Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam: A Complete Travel Guide

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Assam's three major wildlife sanctuaries, along with Kaziranga and Manas.

It is also well-known for being the home of a one-horned rhino, and it attracts thousands of snappers and wildlife enthusiasts each year.

Pobitora National Park is located in the Assam district of Morigaon. The national park is about 48 kilometres from Guwahati.

Location

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary experiences winter, summer, and monsoon. From November through May, Jeep or Elephant Safaris into the Wildlife Sanctuary are perfect.

Climatic Conditions

The sanctuary is open from sunrise to sunset, however elephant excursions have specified times. During the morning, there are two elephant safaris.

Sanctuary Timings

The official times are 06:30 hrs and 07:30 hrs, each lasting around one hour. However, these times are not fixed.

Entry Tickets and Safari Cost

Elephant safaris cost $500 per person in India and $1,000 per individual for foreigners. Still and video cameras cost extra, with prices starting at 50 rupees.

The closest lodging to Pobitora is at its own entrance on the west side of the sanctuary, which is owned by the government.
