All About Nirmala Sitharaman: Minister Of Finance Of India

Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian economist and politician who has served as India's Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs since 2019.

She has been a member of the Rajya Sabha, India's upper legislature, since 2014. Sitharaman formerly served as India's Defence Minister.

Nirmala Sitharaman was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to Savitri and Narayanan Sitharaman, into a Tamil Iyengar family.

Nirmala Sitharaman was born on August 18, 1959, and she is currently 64 years old. She falls under the zodiac sign of Leo.

She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, a Master's Degree in Economics, and an M.Phil in the same field.

Sitharaman met her husband, Parakala Prabhakar, from Narsapuram, Andhra Pradesh, while they were both studying at Jawaharlal Nehru University.

They married in 1986, and have a daughter named Parakala Vangmayi . She is the only daughter of the minister.

Sitharaman became BJP spokesperson in 2010. In June 2014, she became a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh and a junior minister in Narendra Modi's cabinet.
