Dada, also known as Pradeep Sarkar, is an Indian writer and filmmaker who works mainly in the Hindi cinema industry.

Having 17 years of experience as a creative director in mainstream advertising, Pradeep later began directing commercial films.

Pradeep was born on April 30, 1955, to a Bengali family. Due to a fever, Pradeep Sarkar passed away on March 24, 2023 at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai.

Pradeep Sarkar is wed to Panchali Sarkar, and they have two children, Ronit and Roya. Ronit is a background vocalist, while Raya is an artist.

Pradeep studied at the St. Andrews School in Kolkata. Afterward, Pradeep Sarkar enrolled at Delhi College of Art, from which he graduated in 1979 with a gold medal.

Pradeep began his advertising career as a creative supervisor at Tulika Advertising Agency. He founded Apocalypso Filmworks and shifted to advertising filming.

Pradeep's directorial debut, "Parineeta," was released in 2005.He won the National Film Award for Best Debut Feature and the Screen Awards for Best Debutant Director for this film.

Other films directed by Pradeep include Lafangey Parindey, Mardaani, and Helicopter Eela, which was released in 2018.

In 2003, Pradeep became the editor of Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster Hindi film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

Pradeep had a net worth of roughly $5 million. His primary source of revenue was film, music video, and advertisement direction.
