"It's Important To Promote Indianness," Sara Ali Khan Said On Her Debut Cannes

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan, who debuted at the Cannes film festival this year, said it’s important to promote Indianness. It was in an interview with PTI that Sara made this remark. According to the actress, ours is such a culturally rich country with so many languages, emotions and so much depth that she was proud to speak about it on a global platform.

Sara went on to say that the three words that define her as an individual are — ‘woman’, ‘actor’, and ‘Indian’. The actress added that she got to represent all these aspects.

Sara also said that apart from being invited by the Indian pavilion at Cannes, she was also invited by the Red Sea Film Festival officials. The actress was invited there to celebrate women behind and in front of the camera.

Sara walked the Cannes red carpet in a gorgeous hand-embroidered multi-panel skirt designed by ace fashion designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. The highlights of her attire include the intricate shadow work embroidery and a resplendent blouse adorned with crystals, pearls, and resham work.

After coming back from Cannes, Sara made an appearance recently at the IIFA 2023. While speaking about her Cannes experience, the actress said in an exclusive interview with India Today that she thinks she learned that every country has its own culture.

She also said that there were actors from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, and Paris and she even met Leonardo DiCaprio. According to Sara, she thinks that in spite of all the national differences, when it comes to regions, the passion that all of us feel is the same. The actress also mentioned that it truly shows how cinema transcends all kinds of nationalistic boundaries.

When asked about who is the actor with whom she would love to walk the red carpet with, Sara replied that right now it is Vicky Kaushal. She also added that if it’s Hollywood, it is Ryan Gosling.

Sara Ali Khan is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie Zara Hatke Zara Bachke which is slated to release on 2nd June. Directed and co-written by Laxman Utekar, she is cast opposite Vicky Kaushal in the film. The actress portrays the character of Saumya Chawla in the movie whereas Vicky will be playing the role of Kapil Chawla.

In connection with the promotion of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, yesterday, Sara on her Instagram account shared photographs of hers along with Vicky Kaushal.  The actress’s social media post had the caption “ Somya Aur Kapil ki date night”. A stunning Sara was flaunting a red dress whereas Vicky looked dapper in a black suit and matching black bow tie.

Sarah, the daughter of leading Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, rose to fame after acting in movies such as “Kedarnath”, “Simmba” and “Atrangi Re”. She was last seen in ‘Gaslight’ where she was cast alongside Vikrant Massey and Chitrangda Singh. Directed by Pavan Kirpalani the film was released on Disney+ Hotstar and it garnered rave reviews.
