Tripti Dimri is an Indian actress who works in Hindi movies. She kickstarted her acting career by playing the role of ‘Riya’ in the 2017 film Poster Boys. Later, she appeared in the lead role in several movies such as Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, and Qala.

Some of the prestigious achievements of Tripti include being featured in Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list of 2021 and The Times of India’s 50 Most Desirable Women List of 2020. Tripti is quite popular on social media platforms with 5,82,000 followers on Instagram.

Tripti was born on 23 February 1994. Her father Dinesh Prasad Dimri works with Air India in Delhi. Tripti’s mother’s name is Meenakshi Dimri.

On January 7th, 2023, Tripti posted a series of photos on Instagram where she was seen along with Karnesh Sharma. Karnesh is the brother of Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and also the co-producer of Hindi movies ‘Bulbbul’ and ‘Qala’ in which Tripti played the lead role.

Following Tripti’s Instagram post, rumors were rife that the actress is dating Karnesh. Tripti had even shared a picture where Karnesh was kissing her. However, the couple remained tightlipped about their relationship.

In July 2023, the Times of India reported that Tripti had broken up with Karnesh. This was following the couple unfollowing each other on Instagram and also deleting the pictures where they were seen together.

Tripti did her schooling at Delhi Public School, Firozabad. Later she joined Sri Aurobindo College affiliated with Delhi University to pursue a degree in psychology. Tripti has also attended acting classes at FTII, Pune.

In 2017, Tripti made her acting debut with the Shreyas Talpade-directed Hindi movie ‘Poster Boys. The following year, she acted in a lead role in ‘Laila Majnu’, opposite Avinash Tiwary.

Tripti got a break in her career in 2020 in the film ‘Bulbbul’, written and directed by Anvita Dutt. She won Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress in a Web Original Film for her acting in the movie.

The actress also received rave reviews for her brilliant performance in Bulbbul. Tripti’s next movie was ‘Qala’, which was released in 2022. The film was from the team of Bulbbul and Tripti played the titular role in it.  

The upcoming movie from Tripti is ‘Animal’, an action thriller Hindi film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. With Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles, Animal is all set to hit the screens on 1st December 2023. Apart from Hindi, the film will also be dubbed in South Indian languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

On 9th July 2023, Bollywood’s ace director Karan Johar announced the details of his next production venture. Tripti will be paired alongside Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk in this film directed by Anand Tiwari. As per Karan’s latest announcement, the movie will be released on Amazon Prime on 23rd February 2024.

Lesser Known Facts About Tripti Dimri

  • After the release of ‘Laila Majnu’, Tripti once went to the vegetable market. The actress was under the assumption that she would not be able to buy vegetables because fans would recognize her. However, nothing happened and nobody spoke to her about the film.
  • Tripti acted in a rape scene in the film ‘Bulbbul’. As she belongs to a conservative family, Tripti’s parents freaked out after seeing their daughter being raped by a stranger. However, the actress later explained to them that the rape scene was inevitable in the film.
  • After acting in Laila Majnu, Tripti did not get any acting offers for the next 6 or 7 months. During those days, she used to wake up to what to do with her day. According to the actress, things get difficult when one is not living with friends or family in Mumbai. Tripti went on to add that it becomes more frustrating when you see your friends going to work and you are feeling useless.
  • Tripti would love to associate with directors such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Basu, Sriram Raghavan, Imtiaz Ali, and Shoojit Sircar in the future. She is also quite keen to play mythological characters and would love to play Sita or Draupadi.
