Ashish Kulkarni Family
Ashish was born to Dhananjay Kulkarni, a government employee, and Payal Kulkarni. The singer also has a brother and a sister by the name Tanvi Kulkarni.
Relationships
In an interview in 2022, Ashish revealed that he was in a relationship earlier and had a breakup just before he joined Indian Idol 12.
Later, In July 2023, Marathi television actress Swanandi Tikekar announced her relationship with Ashish on Instagram. She posted a photo along with Ashish and wrote “This is us!” suffixed with a heart emoji. A few days later, Swanandi shared an Instagram video of her engagement with Ashish. In the video, she is seen dancing with her beau Ashish and he kisses her cheeks.
Apart from being an actress, Swanandi is also a singer. She is the winner of ‘Singing Star’, a celebrity singing reality show. The daughter of actor Uday Tikekar and renowned singer Aarti Ankalikar Tikekar, Swanandi became a household name after acting in Dil Dosti Duniyadaari, a Marathi television series.
Education
Ashish did his schooling at S.P.M. Secondary English School in Pune. Later the singer enrolled at Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce and completed his BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) degree. In 2017, Ashish joined MIT School of Business, Pune for his MBA and passed out in 2019.
Controversies
On 11th July 2021, Ashish was eliminated from the television singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 12’. However, his fans were not happy with the announcement. They expressed their displeasure on social media platforms and termed it an ‘unfair eviction’. Some of the fans opined that his fellow contestant Shanmukha Priya should have been ousted instead of Ashish.
However, Ashish later said in an interview that after all it is a competition and only one can win at the end. He also added that the rest of the 6 singers who survived the elimination were great singers.
Ashish Kulkarni Profession
Since the early age of 7, Ashish started learning Hindustani Classical music. In 2008, the teenager tried his luck at ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’, a singing reality show for children aired on the Zee Marathi channel. However, Ashish was eliminated in the initial round.
Later, the singer formed ‘Raagalogik’, a musical band along with Aditya Ranade. The band mainly focused on the fusion of classical music with different genres like progressive, jazz, blues, etc. Their tribute to legendary musician AR Rahman has been a hit among the mucic lovers.
On 5th February 2019, Ashish launched his YouTube channel and his first music video was ‘ Pehra’ in which he featured with Tashi Bahuguna. The video went on to hit a whopping 45 lakh views. Some of the other videos from Ashish that went viral include ‘Zehnaseeb’ with 28 lakh views and ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ with 11 lakh views.
In 2020, Ashish joined ‘Indian Idol 2’, a singing reality show aired on Sony TV. Though the singer managed to reach the top 7, Ashish was finally evicted from the show in July 2021.
Later, Ashish entered the film industry by composing music for 2 Marathi movies.
