Annu Kapoor: A Versatile Voice Of Indian Entertainment!
Born Anil Kapoor, Annu Kapoor is an Indian actor, singer, and television anchor who works majorly in Hindi films and television series. He started his career by joining his father’s traveling theatre company and later debuted in films with the Shyam Benegal film Mandi released in 1983.
However, Annu Kapoor rose to fame after hosting the musical game show Antakshari telecast on Zee TV. A recipient of two National Film Awards and one Filmfare Award, he later acted in several commercially successful films such as Mr. India, Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Ghayal, Hum, and Vicky Donor.

Annu Kapoor Family
Annu was born on 20th February 1956 to Madanlal, a Punjabi who has roots in Peshawar, Pakistan, and Kamal, a Bengali Brahmin. The actor’s father was running a folk theatre company and his mother used to work as an Urdu teacher.
Annu has two brothers of which the elder brother Ranjith works as a director and screenwriter and the younger brother Nikhil is a writer and lyricist by profession. The actor also has a sister Seema Kapoor who is a producer and actor.
Affairs ( Past And Present)
In 1992, Annu got married to Anupama Patel, an American. However, their relationship did not last for long and the couple got divorced in 1993. Later, Annu happened to meet Arunita Mukherjee on the sets of the television show ‘Antakshari’. Soon, they became friends, and eventually love blossomed between the two.
In 1995, Annu tied the knot with Arunita and in 2001, the coupled welcomed a baby girl, Aaradhita. However, during that time Annu rekindled his relationship with his first wife Anupama.
With the turn of events, Arunita got to know about their affair and the couple got divorced in 2005. Later in 2008, Annu married Anupama for the second time and the couple later became parents to three sons, Evam, Mahir, and Kawan.
Education
Due to poor financial conditions, Annu had to quit his studies after Class X. Later, in 1976, the actor joined the National School of Drama and completed his graduation.
Controversies
In 2011, Annu entered into a verbal dual with actress Priyanka Chopra. According to the actor, Priyanka declined to do intimate scenes with him and it may be due to the reason that he is neither good-looking nor a hero.
Later, however, Priyanka unleashed her fury on Annu, saying that he should only choose films in which there are sexually explicit scenes and make such cheap comments.
Profession
Anu began his career by joining his father’s Parsi theatre company. Later, he entered into films by playing an uncredited role in the 1979 film Kaala Patthar. It was followed by films such as Aadharshila, Betaab, Mandi, and Khandar. However, the turning point in Annu’s career was acting in the film ‘Utsav’. Later, he became part of several hit films such as Mr. India, Tezaab, Ghayal, Ram Lakhan, Hum, Sardar, Darr, Om Jai Jagadish, Aitraaz, and 7 Khoon Maaf.
Annu became a household name on television with the musical show ‘Close-Up Antakshari’. Later, he appeared in several other television serials such as Kile ka Rahasya, Ek Se Badkar Ek, Bada Dhamaka, and Golden Era With Annu Kapoor.
The actor turned into a radio jockey with the show ‘Suhaana Safar With Annu Kapoor’ aired on 92.7 Big FM. He also directed many plays and also directed a feature film Abhay (The Fearless) which earned him the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film in 1995.
Annu got a major break in his career with the film ‘Vicky Donor’ in 2012. For his performance, the actor went on to win several coveted awards such as the National Film Award, Filmfare Award, IIFA Award, and Screen Award.
