Bijay Anand is an Indian film actor, Kundalini yoga instructor, and writer. He primarily works in Hindi movies, and some of his famous films include Adipurush, Shershaah, and Baahubali: Before the Beginning.
Bijay is also the founder of ‘Anahata’, a Mumbai-based organization that is into conducting yoga classes, workshops on health, wellness, and spirituality, and corporate training programs. The actor is quite popular on social media platforms with 59,400 followers on Instagram and 4,735 followers on Twitter.

Bijay Anand is married to Sonali K Khare, a Marathi film and television actress. There is an age gap of 27 years between the couple as Bijay is currently 66 years old whereas Sonali is 39. Sonali has acted in several Marathi films such as Savarkhed Ek Gaon, 7, Roshan Villa, & Jara Hatke and serials including Abhalmaya and Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam.
Bijay and Sonnali have a daughter, Sanayaah Anand. Sanayaah recently debuted in acting with ‘My Lek’ – a 2023 Marathi film directed by Priyanka Tanwar.

Controversies
Post the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the vaccination drive was occurring on a mass scale. Also, several celebrities had urged the public to take the jab. However, Bijay made up his mind he will not get vaccinated.
According to the actor, his body is a temple and he did not want to put chemicals inside his body. In an interview, Bijay said that solely due to the reason that he is not vaccinated, he lost two films that were filmed in London and a big web series that was shot in Serbia.
However, the actor was quite determined that he will stay away from vaccination. Bijay added that vaccination is a political thing and probably one of the biggest scams the world has ever seen.
Bijay played the role of actress Alia Bhatt’s father in an advertisement for bridalwear. However, it stirred controversy as Alia questions the custom of ‘kanyadaan’ in the commercial. The actress was seen asking whether a daughter is something to be given away.
However, Bijay came out in support of Alia and said that the actress was telling what was told to her by the director of the advertisement. He also added that actors, especially girls are often soft targets.
According to Bijay, nobody is considering the statement made by Alia in the ad to respect women. Bijay concluded his statement by mentioning that at the end of the day, love spreads love and hatred spreads hatred.

Bijay Anand hailed from a poor financial background. Thus, during his childhood days, the actor had to take up several odd jobs to make a living. When he was just 9 years old, Bijay started selling soaps on Mumbai’s local trains. The following year, he started selling air fresheners door to door. Later, Bijay also did several other jobs such as conducting surveys and selling jeans at flea markets.
Later when he turned 17, Bijay ventured into the field of modeling. Eventually, he got an opportunity to associate with ace photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. Within a week, he got a lot of modeling offers from renowned brands such as Bhilwara Suitings, Milkfood 100% Ice Cream and S. Kumar’s Suitings. By the time he turned 21, Bijay made good money from modeling and bought his own place in Andheri in Mumbai.
With the turn of events, the 22- year old Bijay debuted in acting and appeared in various Hindi serials such as Aasman Se Aagey, Kurukshetra, and Andaaz. Five years later, the youngster started acting in feature films, and his first project ‘Yash’ turned out to be a major musical hit. It was followed by ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’, another blockbuster movie.
However, when he was at the peak of his acting career, Bijay switched his profession and became an art dealer. He did exceedingly well as an art dealer and advised corporates, high-net-worth individuals, and leading auction houses and art galleries around the globe. Bijay continued as an art dealer till 2012 when he again decided to switch professions.
During that time Bijay was attracted to spirituality. He started by learning Kundalini Yoga and later became a yoga instructor. As part of imparting yoga training, Bijay has visited several countries including the U.K., Russia, the Czech Republic, China, Jamaica, U.A.E., and the U.S.
When it comes to acting in movies, Bijay was recently seen in the film IB71 where has was cast alongside IB71 alongside actor Vidyut Jammwal. He also portrayed the role of Lord Brahma in Adipurush.

- Bijay’s 14-year-old daughter Sanayaah had to go alone to London to shoot her first film. Since Bijay and his wife did not take the Covid vaccine, they were not permitted to travel.
- At one point, Bijay was doing exceptionally well as an art dealer. Back then, Dinesh Vazirani, a friend of the actor and the owner of ‘Saffron Art’, India’s biggest auction house used to address Bijay as “The Big Bull”.
- Once Bijay posted a photo along with his daughter on Instagram and posted a humorous note that since she was 5 years old, they both have been going on dates, which helped them a lot to bond.
