James Gunn Wants To Work With Jr. NTR And Thinks He Is Great And Cool

The renowned American filmmaker James Gunn who rose to fame by directing ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy series has expressed his desire to work with Telugu actor Jr NTR. The director revealed his wish in an exclusive interview with News 18. com.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. popularly known as Jr NTR is the grandson of the Late N. T. Rama Rao Sr., one of the legends of the Telugu film industry. He is also a recipient of two Filmfare Awards.

In the interview, James was asked about that one person he would prefer to cast if he was given the option to introduce an Indian actor into the Guardians series. James was one of the many international filmmakers who had showered praises on RRR last year. On July 17th, 2022, the director tweeted ‘I did. Totally dug it.’ on the RRR movie’s Twitter handle.

James, apart from being the director, has also been the co-writer of  ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy series since its inception. While replying to the question on the Indian actor he would like to pick, James asked a counter question to the interviewer regarding who was the actor who starred in RRR.

He went on to mention that the guy who acted in the scene where all the tigers are shown coming out of the cage is really good. James also praised Jr NTR by saying that he is quite amazing and cool and that he would like to work with that actor someday.

When asked whether he had any particular role in mind for Jr NTR, the director replied that he has to ponder on that and it would take some time.

When asked about whether he drew inspiration from India while approaching the music in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, James was quick to respond “100%”. The director, while commenting on the Indian film industry said that an aspect that he loves about Indian cinema and Bollywood movies is that they are all about art as well as entertainment.

He also said that there are no rules about what a movie should be. There could be many different things and that is true about the movies in the Guardians series. The director mentioned that there are Indian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean movies as part of who we are.

James opined that the history of many American movies is completely based on American or European filmmaking. The director made it very clear that it is always important for him to bring a world to the audience through his movies where he allows the movie to be something different than the regular kind of storytelling that is normally seen in the United States. James also mentioned that the musical element is undoubtedly inspired by Bollywood movies.

Marvel Studios ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is all set to release in India on May 5. The movie will be screened in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, only in cinemas.
