Jeevitha Rajasekhar is an Indian actress-turned-director and producer who works primarily in Tamil and Telugu languages. She made her debut in acting with the 1984 Tamil film ‘Uravai Kaatha Kili’, directed by T. Rajendar.

Jeevitha slowly gained popularity and was cast as a second heroine in several films of the 80s. After her marriage with Dr. Rajasekhar, Jeevitha took a sabbatical from acting and focused on her family life. However, she later turned director and producer of her husband’s films.

In 2011, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar alleged that there were irregularities in the way Chiranjeevi Blood Bank (a blood bank founded by actor Chiranjeevi) was functioning. According to the couple, the organization was selling blood on the black market.

Following their allegation, Allu Aravind, Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law filed a defamation case against the couple. On July 18th, 2023, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar were sentenced to one-year jail imprisonment by the Nampally chief magistrate. The court also slapped a fine of Rs.5 lakh on the couple.

Jeevitha kickstarted her acting career with the 1984 Tamil film ‘Uravai Kaatha Kili’. The following year, she appeared in several Tamil movies such as Sugamana Raagangal, Vetrikani, Selvi, Pattuchelai, Padum Vaanampadi, and Naane Raja Naane Mandhiri. 

In 1987, Jeevitha made her entry into the Telugu film industry with ‘Dammit Katha Addam Thirigindi’, directed by K. Vasu. She portrayed the character of Rani in the film. It was followed by several other Telugu movies such as Talambralu, Prajaswamyam, Bava Marudula Sawal, Janaki Ramudu, and Anna Chellelu. In 1989, Jeevitha appeared in the Kannada film ‘ Kankana Bhagya’.

After her marriage with Dr. Rajasekhar in 1991, Jeevitha bid goodbye to acting. Later, the actress focused on family life and also extended her support to her husband’s acting career.

In 2002, Jeevitha made her directorial debut with the Telugu film ‘ Seshu’. It was a remake of the hit Tamil film ‘Sethu’. She also turned producer with the 2004 Telugu film ‘Aaptudu’, a remake of the Hindi film ‘Ghatak: Lethal’. Later, Jeevitha directed several films such as Satyameva Jayate, Mahankali, and Shekar. She also produced films such as Evadaithe Nakenti, Mahankali, and Shekar.

After a long gap of around 33 years, Jeevitha will be acting in the Tamil film ‘Lal Salaam’ in 2023. With superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, the film will be directed by his daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth. In an interview, Jeevitha said that she has several combination scenes with Rajinikanth in the film.

  • When Jeevitha and Rajasekhar acted in ‘Talambralu’, their first movie together, Jeevitha who was fluent in Telugu used to do all her scenes in one take. However, Rajasekhar who is not well versed in the language used to take two to three takes for each scene.
