Jiya Shankar Family
When Jiya Shankar was 13, her parents got divorced. The actress’s father’s name is not available in public sources and her mother’s name is Surekha Gavli.

Jiya once admitted that she doesn’t use her father’s last name and her last name ‘Shankar’ is not her father’s name. Jiya is the only child of her parents and she was raised by a single mom.
Relationships
Five years back, Jiya Shankar was in a relationship with a person. Though the actress knew that he was not the one she wanted to be with, she just couldn’t get out of that relationship. According to Jiya, her boyfriend was super jealous and obsessive.
Everyone else also tried to save her, but they couldn’t as Jiya was deeply in love with that person. Finally, it took a year for the actress to break up.

Initially, Jiya Shankar opted for a digital marketing course. However, the actress did not complete it. Later, she attended a course at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, an acting school.
Controversies
Jiya once opened up about how she was molested by her family doctor during her teenage days. Back then the actress was studying in the 10th standard and was about to attend her board exams the next day.
However, Jia felt sick and went to that person as he was their family doctor. Since Jia’s father was missing, the doctor asked her about him. An innocent Jiya replied that her parents have parted ways. The doctor took advantage of that situation and molested the actress. According to Jiya, it was the most disturbing thing ever.

Jiya Shankar entered the world of acting with the 2013 Telugu movie ‘Entha Andanga Unnave’. She was cast opposite Ajay Manthena in the film. Later, in 2015, she frayed into television by playing the role of Alisha Rai in the series, ‘Love by Chance’.
However, the actress became a household name after portraying the character of Dr. Iravati “Ira” Pandey in ‘Meri Hanikarak Biwi’, a comedy-drama series aired on &TV. It was followed by the serial ‘Kaatelal & Sons’ and the character of Susheela “Susheela” Ruhail Solanki played by Jiya became quite popular.
The other serials in which Jiya has acted include Gumrah: End of Innocence, Twist Wala Love, Pyaar Marriage Shhhh, Queens Hain Hum, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Laal Ishq, and Pishachini.
In 2017, the actress made her debut in Tamil with ‘Kanavu Variyam’, a film directed by Arun Chidambaram. The following year, she appeared in the Telugu film ‘Hyderabad Love Story’. Jiya forayed into Marathi in 2022 with actor Riteish Deshmukh’s directorial debut film ‘ Ved’.
Jiya has also acted in the 2020 web series ‘Virgin Bhaskar 2’ streamed on ZEE5. In 2023, the actress joined as a contestant in ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’, a reality show aired on JioCinema. However, after reaching the top 6, Jia was evicted from the show.
