Bekal Fort

Bekal Fort is one of the best places to visit in Kasaragod. The actual location is 16 Km South of Kasargod around the northern part of Kerala. It deceives on the astounding shores of the Arabian Sea. Ranipuram Hills is situated 750 m above sea level in Kasaragod and it is a renowned tourist place around the northern tip of Kerala with an ideal picnic spot where one can even come around the occasional herd of elephants. In Kerala, the Malom Wildlife Sanctuary is situated between the two hills Ranipuram and Kottancherry, and is one of the well-conserved sanctuaries around Kerala by the forest department. In Kerala, the forest region of Malom is an inordinate example of a tropical rainforest where an inordinate population of animals, birds, trivial organisms, and reptilians endured very well.

In addition, the beautiful sanctuary also aims for a diverse variety of species of panthers, elephants, Malabar, mongoose, pangolin, and many more. During the morning the views of the hills look amazing. It is creating an astounding feeling in the mind and also fresh air. Parappa Wildlife Sanctuary

Parappa Wildlife Sanctuary is one such location that proposes both nature’s beauty and tranquility. Parappa Wildlife Sanctuary is home to diverse implausible species of wildlife. It is one of the better-known wildlife sanctuaries around Kerala which have different medical plants, the complete jungle is enclosed by green fragmented trees and different herbal plants.

From 8 AM to 4 PM, the Parappa Wildlife Sanctuary is open and the entry fee is INR 20 per person. To visit the sanctuary, the best time is from October to February when the weather is cool and enjoyable.

Chandragiri Fort

The Chandragiri Fort is located on the banks of the Payaswini River around Kasaragod District. During the 17th century, the Chandragiri Fort was a beautiful fort that occupied an area of nearly 7 acres by the side of the river Payaswini.

The fort provides scenic sights and seems to be constructed by Nayaks. The beautiful garden inside the amazing fort is also maintained moderately well with colorful flora. In addition, the Fort delivers astonishing sights to the Chandragiri River adjoining the sea enclosed by lush greenery.

Veeramala Hills

At Cheruvathur in the Kasaragode district of Kerala, the Veeramala Hills is a little mountain situated with the natural beauty of the Kariangode River. During the 18th Century, the prime lure here was the ruins of a Dutch fort constructed. This makes the location a lovely picnic sight.

Thaikadappuram Beach

As the beach is not very familiar to the visitors hence is not at all crowded and is a perfect destination to celebrate a laid-back holiday. Whereas, this beach is much well-known for rare Olive Ridley Turtles which visit throughout the rainy period to lay eggs.

This sparkling beach with the natural attractiveness of its own lure different visitors during the year. The virgin sandy beach is very worth visiting and celebrating a peaceful and leisurely holiday.

Mallikarjuna Temple

In Kasaragod, Mallikarjuna Temple is one of the oldest and most imperative temples which is devoted to Lord Shiva and is situated close to the taluk office in the center of Kasaragod city. It is where most of the ceremonial rituals and the rose festival devoted to Goddess Shiva are held.

Based on history, this amazing temple is datable to the 17th century and was constructed by the kings of Ikkeri for simplifying worship to the fighters brought from Karnataka.

The mosque has the tomb of Thangal Uppappa. It is located near Kasaragod town and is majorly better known for the Uroos in the month of November the popular Nercha festival is held which draws the attention of a massive number of supporters for the admiration of the popular Saint Thangal Uppapa.

It takes place once every two years and frequently during the month of the Dul Hajj. Additionally, held during the month of November, a great feast is organized on the last day of the Uroos.

The walls of the beautiful temple are decorated with amazing paintings. There are no limitations to visiting this beautiful temple and it is open to everybody irrespective of religion, creed, or caste. The park is positioned at Puliyamkulam and is scattered over 32 acres of area. In Kerala, it is only a man-made forest and is an astonishing example of forest conservation. It also provides shelter to uncountable species of birds, slight wild animals, and medicinal plants. Kareem is a native of Kasaragod and an amazing man behind this astonishing great green venture.

Best Time to visit Kasaragod

To visit Kasaragod, December to February is the best time. The temperature throughout winter diverges from 12 to 20 degrees Celcius and thus serves as just the perfect time to discover the town.

The town of Kasargod witnesses temperate climate conditions due to its closeness to the sea. The summers are hot and damp while the winters are cool and enjoyable. Monsoon season (June to November) accepts weighty rainfall and thus is not suggested as a correct time to visit the place. 

How to Reach Kasaragod? 

  • By Air: Mangalore is the closest airport to Kasargod situated at a distance of nearly 50 kilometers. The next nearest airport would be Cochin, which is nearly 400 kilometers far from Kasargod.
  • By Rail: Kasaragord has its own railway station which is well-connected with other prime states of India and there are diverse trains that ply from this location to other parts of the nation.
  • By Roadways: Kasargod has a varied network of roads that link it with the rest of Kerala and in a way, complete India. You can always take private buses and cabs to arrive at this place by road.
