Kurnool- India, 10 Interesting Places To Visit!

Kurnool is a great place to visit in Andhra Pradesh since it is surrounded by four major rivers (the Krishna, the Kunderu, the Tungabhadra, and the Hundri, which flows into the Tungabhadra).

Kurnool offers everything you might want for a relaxing vacation, from a wide variety of flora and fauna to well-known historical landmarks and delicious regional food. Find out what places to visit in Kurnool are the best ones to see.

Places To Visit In Kurnool

1. Yaganti Temple

Sri Yaganti Swamy Temple, located in Yaganti, Kurnool, is a beautiful Shiva temple that dates back to the 5th-6th century. Ardhanareeswara, or Shiva and Parvati together, is the temple’s primary deity.

Yaganti Temple

Yaganti Swamy is one of the most impressive temples in all of Kurnool, thanks to its monolithic Ardhanareeswara statue. Visitors to the temple are always welcome; however, the best time to see Yaganti is on Maha Shiv Ratri.

For visitors to Kurnool, this is a must-see attraction. In Yaganti, a popular tourist site in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India, you’ll find the Sri Yagantiswamy temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and serves as the perfect introduction to Andhra Pradesh tourism.

During the fifth and sixth centuries, the historic Sri Yagantiswamy temple — also known as the Uma Maheshwara Temple — was constructed.  Ardhanareeswara, an amalgamation of Shiva and Parvathi, is worshipped at this temple.

Beautiful in appearance, this deity figure was hewn from a single block of stone. The temple hosts a spectacular spectacle during the Maha Shiv Ratri festival, which occurs in October or November.

People from all around, especially devotees of Lord Shiva, go to the temple during this time. People admire the magnificent temple not just for its religious significance but also for its many striking and unusual features.

Yaganti may be the only temple where Lord Shiva is adored as an idol rather than a Shiva Linga. Water flows from the foot of the hill into the Agastya Pushkarni, another temple feature. People showering in the sacred water show their respect for the deity.

2. Rollapadu Nature Sanctuary

If you’re a nature lover, you should visit the Rollapadu Nature Sanctuary. The 614-square-kilometer Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary has long been a favorite with vacationers because of the abundance of unique and endangered species that call it home.

These animals include the Great Indian Bustard and the Lesser Florican. It’s a great site to see birds and illustrate how humans and other forms of life can live in harmony with one another.

3. Oravakallu Rock Garden

Oravakallu Rock Garden is an attractive area with igneous rock formations. Nearly twenty kilometers from the city proper, this park is perfect for a day trip with the family because of the boating opportunities and cave museums it offers.

It is a popular spot for visitors visiting Kurnool.

4. Mahanandi

The Mahanandi is another beautiful destination for those seeking a connection with nature. It’s surrounded by dense forest, and the nearby trails are some of the most exciting in the country.

Mahanandi

Peaceful Mahanandi, located east of the Nallamala Hills, is a haven for many plants and fauna. Furthermore, it is home to the renowned Lord Nandi temple in Nava Nandulu. The temple, dedicated to Lord Nandi, was constructed in the first decade of the tenth century.

Making it one of the nine most prominent shrines to the god.

5. Belum Caves

The Belum Caves, the largest and longest cave system in India, are in the Kurnool region, which is much to your enjoyment. One of the most exciting things to do in Kurnool, you may still visit this spot.

Belum Caves

Water has carved elaborate patterns into the limestone walls of these caves, creating a maze of tunnels. Since an underground stream runs through it, the area around this cave, which is about 46 meters deep, is known as Patalganga.

6. Konda Reddy Fort

Kurnool Fort is a popular tourist attraction and one of the best places to see in Kurnool. It is conveniently located near Kurnool Railway Station, around 2 kilometers away, and is easily accessible through many major roads.

Konda Reddy Fort

Built by the Vijayanagar emperors, the Konda Reddy Fort conceals an underground passage under the Tungabhadra. A large watchtower in the defense offers spectacular views of the area.

7. Construction Of Ahobilam Temple

Additionally, another ancient temple in Kurnool is the Ahobilam temple. This temple honors Lord Narasimha in all nine of his forms, making it one of the few such places in the world. The unique design of the temple has attracted archaeology fans to this tranquil spot.

Ahobilam Temple

It is, without a doubt, one of the most incredible sights in all of Kurnool. The Lord Narasimha Swamy Temple in Ahobilam, a small village, is famous across India. The Ahobilam temple is devoted to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.

The Adi Lakshmi Devi Temple and the Chenchu Lakshmi Devi Temple are within the temple grounds. It’s the only place on Earth where the deity is honored in all nine of his manifestations.

Adishesha is reportedly in the middle of Ahobilam, which stretches across the Nalmalla Hills. All nine incarnations of Lord Narasimha Swami are represented in the temple, built in the Vijayanagara architectural style.

On the footprint of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, which measures 5 feet 3 inches in circumference, the sacred Ahobilam Temple was built. It is stated that marriages performed in this location lead to happy, fulfilling marriages.

Lord Narasimha is an avatar of Vishnu who took the form of a half-lion and half-man to save Prahlad, a devotee, from his father.

8. A view Of The Abdul Wahab Mausoleum

Because of its striking similarity to Bijapur’s Gol Gumbaz, the famous tomb of Abdul Wahab is sometimes known as Gol Gummaz. After the death of Abdul Wahab Khan in the 16th century, the city of Kurnool was established.

Abdul Wahab Mausoleum

Abdul Wahab was the first Nawab. Featuring two towering domes, arches, and extensive verandas, the mausoleum is quite impressive. The proximity of the mausoleum to Osmania College makes it a popular destination for academics and students looking for a respite.

9. Venugopala Swamy Temple

The Venugopala Swamy Temple in Kurnool is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Near Krishna Raja Sagara, near Hosa Kannambadi, lies the Venugopala Swamy Temple, a stunning example of Hoysala architecture.

An excursion to the temple, which was constructed in the 12th century, would be the well-spent beauty of its architecture.

10. Mantralayam

Mantralayam, on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, lies close to the Karnataka border, around 74 kilometers from the Kurnool district. Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami, a saint, attained samadhi there in the 17th century.

The major attraction is the temple and Mutt complex, which is a religious institution.
