Sidhu Moose Wala: Everything About The Punjabi Singer!
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala was an Indian rapper, lyricist, and actor who primarily worked in Punjabi music and movies. In 2017, Sidhu released his first song ‘ G Wagon’.
However, the singer rose to fame after his track ‘ So High’ was released in 2018. Sidhu appeared as an actor in Punjabi movies such as ‘Yes I Am Student’, ‘Teri Meri Jodi’, and ‘Gunah’.
One of the coveted achievements in the singer’s career includes being named by The Guardian among 50 up-and-coming artists. On 29th May 2022, Sidhu was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Mansa district of Punjab.
Family sources confirmed that the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, has given birth to a baby boy. The news was shared by Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, on Instagram with a photo and hospital video.

Sidhu Moose Wala Family
Sidhu was born on 11 June 1993 and he hailed from a Jat Sikh family from the Moosa village of Mansa district in Punjab. He was the only child of Balkaur Singh, a retired government employee, and a farmer.
Sidhu’s mother Charan Kaur is a sarpanch of their village and in December 2018, she won the elections by a margin of 600 votes.
Relationship
Sidhu was all set to get married to Amandeep Kaur, a Canadian PR in 2022 November. The matchmaking between the couple took place two years before the singer’s death and their engagement ceremony was held in the Sangreri village of Punjab.
Amandeep, Sidhu’s fiancee is the daughter of a prominent figure of Akali Dal, a political party, and previously worked as the singer’s assistant.
After Sidhu was assassinated, Amandeep took a vow never to get married again. As per reports, she also moved along with Sidhu’s parents to his native place, Mansa.
Sidhu Moose Wala Education
Sidhu did his schooling at the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Mansa. Later, the singer joined Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Ludhiana, Punjab, and completed his graduation in electrical engineering. For pursuing further studies, Sidhu shifted to Canada and studied at Humber College.
Controversies
Sidhu’s career was often embroiled in controversies as he was accused of promoting drugs, violence, and gun culture through his songs. ‘Jatti Jeone Morh Wargi’, one of his songs came under the scanner as there was a reference to Mai Bhago, the Sikh warrior who lived during the 18th century.
Also, there were several instances when FIRs were registered against the singer for promoting violence and hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. During the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the singer was booked after his pictures surfaced on social media where he was seen holding an AK-47 rifle.
In another instance, Sidhu compared himself to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in his song ‘ Sanju’ released in July 2020. Subsequently, he was booked in Mohali for glorifying the use of weapons in the song.
‘Punjab: My Motherland’, is another song where Sidhu supported Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. There were also some scenes of Khalistan supporter Bhoopar Singh Balbir in the same song.

When Sidhu Moose was studying in 5th grade, he started singing folk songs of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, a legendary Sikh commander who lived in the 18th century. The kid also learned music from Harvinder Bittu in Ludhiana.
Later, during his college days, the youngster ventured into writing songs for others in the Chandigarh-based Punjabi music industry. In 2016, he made his debut as a songwriter for the song “License” by Ninja. However, soon Sidhu decided that he will write only for himself.
After his track ‘So High’ turned out to be a massive hit, Sidhu released his first album ‘ PBX 1’ released in October 2018. The singer’s success story continued as PBX was at number 66 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. In addition to that, his singles “47” and “Mera Na” were ranked on the UK Singles Chart.
In acting, Sidhu made his debut with ‘Yes I Am Student’, a film made under his own production company Jatt Life Studios. Later he went on to act in several movies such as Teri Meri Jodi, Gunah, Moosa Jatt, and Jattan Da Munda Gaun Lagya.

- Chetbant Singh, sarpanch of Sangreri village once recollected in an interview that Sidhu used to regularly visit the village once or twice a month in order to meet his would-be in-laws. However, he added that the singer’s visits used to be an extremely private affair.
- The singer’s stage name‘ Sidhu Moose Wala’ meaning ‘Sidhu of Moosa’ was derived out of his village clan name, Sidhu, and his village Moosa. He once said that wherever he go, “his village would go too”.
- During his college days, Sidhu loved eating food from Sardar Dhaba along with his friends. According to the owner of the dhaba, the singer’s favorite dishes included Chule wali Roti, Dal Makhani, and Sarson da Saag. Also, each time Sidhu came to India, he used to visit this place to relive the memories.
- Once in an interview, Sidhu revealed that he loves eating homemade food such as Rajma and Butter chicken.
- Sidhu was quite passionate about horse riding. He owned several horses and used to share their pictures on his social media handles.
- Sidhu was shot dead while he was driving his Mahindra Thar SUV. Seven months after his death, the car was handed over to Sidhu’s family. The singer’s father turned teary-eyed while receiving the car and decided that he will keep his son’s car outside their house so that his fans can take photographs beside the vehicle.
