In the Rohtas district of Bihar, Sasaram is a small town, 148 km from Patna. Traditionally, it is supposed to be named after, the wise Parashurama and the legendary Kind Sahatrabahu. Sasaram was also the birthplace of Sher Shah Suri, who governed Delhi from 1540 to 1545 AD. It is better known for the mausoleums constructed throughout his regime.

The Grand Trunk Road, the most prominent feature of Sher Shah Suri’s accomplishments, goes through Sasaram. The place is particularly sought after the attractively sculpted tombs of Sher Shah Suri, his beloved father and the architect who designed the monuments. ManjharKund

Sher Shah Suri Tomb

By Air: Gaya International Airport (GAY) is the closest airport to arrive at Sasaram. One has to travel another, closely, 125km from the airport in any locally accessible transportation such as a taxi or a bus.
