Shreyas Iyer Family
Shreyas Iyer was born on 6 December 1994 and his ancestors hail from the Thrissur district of Kerala. Santosh Iyer, his father, is a businessman from Tamil Nadu, and Rohini Iyer, his mother, is Tuluva. Shreyas also has a sister Shresta Iyer who is a dancer by profession.
Affair
In August 2022, social media was abuzz with rumors that Shreyas Iyer is in a relationship with Dhanashree Verma, the wife of Indian cricket player Yuzvendra Chahal. It all started after Dhanashree, a doctor, actor, and choreographer removed the surname ‘Chahal’ from her Instagram account.
Rumors were rife that Yuzvendra and Dhanashree are parting ways and she is having an affair with Shreyas. However, later Dhanashree, in her Instagram story, pleaded with her fans not to believe any rumors about her and Yuzvendra and requested to put an end to it.

Controversies
In May 2022, it stirred controversy when Shreyas, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain remarked that even the franchise CEO Venky Mysore is sometimes involved in the team selection process.
Later, Madanlal, the former Indian international cricketer expressed shock about the revelation made by the cricketer. Shreyas made this controversial statement during a post-match presentation where he was asked about the dropping and axing of players. It was a decisive match and Kolkata Knight Riders had won against Mumbai Indians by 52 runs.
However, Shreyas came up with a clarification later stating that when he took the name of the CEO, he intended to say that Venky is there to console the players who have been sitting out.

When Shreyas was 10 years of age, he approached Pravin Amre, the former Indian cricketer and cricket coach. Then, Pravin was conducting coaching classes at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana and little Shreyas wanted to join his academy. However, Pravin told the young boy to wait for a year more. The cricketer in Shreyas was quite determined and he went back to Pravin a year later. Thus, it led to the association between the two and the rest is history.
During his college days at Podar college, Shreyas was part of the college cricket team and helped them win some trophies. 2014 saw him playing for the Trent Bridge Cricket Team. In the same year in November, Shreyas made his List A debut for Mumbai by playing in the 2014–15 Vijay Hazare Trophy. The following month, he played in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy and went on to become the 7th highest scorer of that tournament.
In September 2018, Shreyas was selected as the vice-captain of Mumbai for the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. He emerged as the top runs scorer of Mumbai in that tournament by scoring 373 runs in seven matches. The very next month Shreyas got the opportunity to be the captain of India B’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy.
The Mumbaiite kickstarted his IPL career in February 2015 when he was signed by Delhi Daredevils for an astronomical sum of 2.6 crores (approximately $430,000). With this move, he achieved the record of being the highest-earning uncapped player in the tournament. At the 2022 IPL Auction, Shreya was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders and he was also selected as the captain.
In March 2017, the cricketer was selected for India’s Test squad as cover for Virat Kohli, for the fourth test match against Australia. In the same year, in October, he was picked for India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against New Zealand. Shreyas made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 10 December 2017 by playing against Sri Lanka.
Shreyas’s major achievements include scoring 31 runs in a single over in the ODI match against West Indies on 18 December 2019. Thus, he achieved the feat of the highest runs scored by a batsman for India in a single over in ODIs.
In 2023, Shreyas suffered a back injury and was ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia.
