Suchitra Krishnamoorthi is an Indian film and television actress, model, and singer who mainly works in Hindi and South Indian movies and television series. During her school days, she forayed into acting with Chunauti, a Hindi serial telecast on Doordarshan in 1987.
Later, she made her debut in Bollywood with the 1994 film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’. As a model, Suchitra appeared in television commercials for leading brands such as Palmolive, Colgate, Clearasil, Sunrise, and Limca.
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has also released various studio albums and compilation albums such as Dole Dole and Dum Tara.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Family
Suchitra was born on 27th November 1975 in a Telugu family. The actress’s father Late Krishnamoorthi Venkatanarasimha was a former commissioner of income tax and her mother Dr Sulochana Krishnamoorthi was a historian and a professor. Suchitra also had a sister Sujata Kumar, who passed away after battling cancer.
Relationships
During her childhood days, Suchitra used to think that she would either marry Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan or filmmaker and actor Shekhar Kapur. Later, she went to meet Shekhar when he was casting for the film ‘Champion’.
With the turn of events, Suchitra fell in love with the filmmaker. However, her parents were dead against their marriage because of the huge age difference between the two of them.
Finally, the actress tied the knot with Shekhar Kapoor in 1997, when she was 22 years old. They also became parents of a baby girl, Kaveri Kapur. Later, the couple parted ways and they got divorced in 2006. Suchitra later said that Shekhar had cheated on her.
In an interview, Suchitra once admitted that after getting divorced from Shekhar Kapur, she was in a relationship that lasted for a year. Apparently, nobody knows about that relationship.

During her school days, Suchitra made her debut in acting with ‘Chunauti’, a Hindi serial. Later she played the role of Lucy in a production of ‘Peanuts: The Musical’ which was based on ‘Peanuts’, the renowned comic strip. On television, Suchitra later became part of several serials such as Kash-m-kash, Chinna Chinna Aasai- Suyamvaram, and Mujrim Haazir. She also appeared in many television commercials for reputed brands.
In 1994, Suchitra made her entry into films with the Kundan Shah-directed Hindi film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’. She was cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film and it turned out to be a super hit. In 1991, Suchitra debuted in the Malayalam film ‘Kilukkampetti’ by appearing in the lead role.
In the mid-1990s, Suchitra ventured into the music industry. She released several musical albums such as Dole Dole, Dum Tara, Aha, and Zindagi that became quite popular. She was also featured in compilation albums such as Channel Hits, Party Zone, and The Ultimate Party Album.
After a long gap of 10 years, Suchitra made a comeback into acting in 2005 with the Hindi film ‘My Wife’s Murder’ in which she was cast opposite Anil Kapoor. She was last seen in ‘Gulity Minds’, a Hindi drama aired on Amazon Prime in 2022.
