Keerthi Pandian is an Indian film actress and theatre artist who works primarily in Tamil movies. She made her acting debut in films with ‘Thumbaa’, an adventure movie directed by Harish Ram. However, Keerthi rose to fame after appearing in the film ‘Anbirkiniyal’ for which she received rave reviews.

Keerthi was born on 18 February 1992 to Arun Pandian, a Tamil film actor and producer, and Vijaya Pandian. The actress has two elder sisters, Kavitha Pandian and Kirana Pandian.

In March 2023, news surfaced that Keerthi is in a relationship with ‘Por Thozhil’ fame actor Ashok Selvan. As per the reports, the parents of the actor couple also approved of their relationship. Keerthi tied the knot with Ashok on September 13 in Reddiyarpatti, Tirunelveli, Keerthi’s native place.

The marriage will be a private function which will be attended only by the close family members and friends of the actor couple. Going by reports, a reception will be held later in Chennai for friends from the film circle.

At the pre-release press meeting held in connection with the film ‘Thumbaa’ in 2019, Keerthi opened up about the body shaming she had to face in the industry. According to the actress, she attended many test shoots in the past 3 years.

However, Keerthi received feedback from directors that people wouldn’t want to look at her face and that her color tone was not appealing. The actress went on to say that it broke her confidence.

After completing her graduation, Keerthi started her career as a dancer in ballet and salsa. Later, in 2015, she made a career switch to theatre acting. Keerthi also helmed A&P Groups, a film distribution company owned by her father, and was working as its head director of operations. During that time, she also ran her own distribution company in Singapore.

In the initial days of her career, Keerthi was avoided by directors citing reasons such as dark skin complexion and being underweight. The actress also turned down some projects as no meaty roles were offered.

Later, Keerthi was introduced to director Harish Ram by her friend Ashwathi, an actress. On hearing the narration of the story of ‘Thumbaa’, she immediately agreed to do the film. Thus, Keerthi made her film debut in 2019 by playing the lead character of Varsha Kumaran in Thumbaa. The actress was cast opposite Darshan and Dheena in this film.

Keerthi was next seen in ‘Anbirkiniyal’, a remake of the blockbuster Malayalam film Helen. Directed by Gokul and co-produced by her father Arun Pandian, Keerthi’s character of Anbirkiniyal Sivam received rave reviews from the critics as well as the audience.  

The next project from Keerthi was ‘Postman’, a web series aired on Zee5 in 2019. The actress’s upcoming films include ‘Konjam Pesinaal Yenna’, directed by Venkat Prabhu and PS Mithran, and ‘Kannagi where she is cast along with Ammu Abhirami, Vidya Pradeep, and Shaolin Zoya.

• Once Keerthi became part of harvesting in Tamil Nadu. Later, the actress tweeted some photographs and wrote that she had learned farming, a new skill.

• Prior to acting in films, Keerthi had appeared in short films and music videos.

• Back in 2018, rumors were rife that Keerthi’s current boyfriend Ashok Selvan is in a relationship with playback singer Pragathi Guruprasad. However, Pragathi later cleared the air she is not in any relationship and has no plans to get married soon.
