After A Lot Of Protests, The Centre Stays Tourism At Jain Shrine In Jharkhand

Have you ever visited the Sammed Shikharji in Jharkhand? If you’re a Jain, it’s a yes.
A beautiful, serene, and peaceful place- also a must-visit in the country went through a lot of protests.
The Indian government recently said on Thursday about how these tourism activities called Sammed Shikharji can stay. These are also the Jain religion site activities that are performed exclusively in Jharkhand and are one of the most prestigious ones for their religion and culture.
The decision wasn’t easy- it was on a suspension related to religious practice and welcomes a lot of criticism. We couldn’t handle it properly and the crowd wasn’t calm either.
The government took the decision only after massive protests- these were community-based protests that were carried out in the capital city of India, Delhi. People were breaking out at the India Gate in Delhi starting this January 1 2023 and later the decision came in favor.
India is a cultural country and hence you cannot ignore the essence of your roots and values. Sometimes it is hard for people to cope with the changing tourism plans and more but this time it touched someone’s religious and ethical values.

G Kishan Reddy who is also the Union Tourism Minister, was there on Thursday to assure that the sentiments of citizens will not be hurt. He assured that no steps are being taken to hurt community sentiments or play with the emotions of the Jain community.
They are fighting for their sacred sites in Jharkhand and we respect each and every sentiment of the people. The shrine will be protected and saved. Parasnath Hills are sacred and cannot be treated as a tourist place, just as the Jains want, this place is not being considered as just another tourist spot.
What All Started This?
It was only when the Jharkhand Government in 2019 set out a notification designating the Parasnath Hills as a tourist spot. After the same hype, Covid-19 came and the world was locked. After the same, the lockdown got released, and tours and travel became usual. Now, the Jains got the security issues regarding their holy and sacred place in Jharkhand.
According to the reports, the Union Environment Ministry sent a memorandum- it was sent by the office to the state with respect to the views of prime minister Narendra Modi. Bhupender Yadav who is also the Union Environment Minister visited the Jain community and assured people about how the union is there to protect their sentiments.
The entire country cannot visit the most prestigious place called ‘Sammed Shikharji Parvat Kshetra’ which is only sacred to Jains. This shall not be touched or played upon. The officials also made sure that the spot will remain sacred and without any public interference.
The spot is the biggest pilgrimage of the Jain community and they do not consider it as a picnic spot. Respecting the views of the citizens, the decisions were taken, and protection was granted.
