Anirudh Ravichander is an Indian music composer, singer, and music producer who works predominantly in Tamil films. A recipient of three Filmfare awards, Anirudh has also composed music for a few Telugu and Hindi movies.
He debuted as a music composer in films with the 2012 movie ‘3’, directed by his cousin Aishwarya. Anirudh later went on to compose several hit songs such as “Why This Kolaveri Di”, “Arabic Kuthu” and “Hukum”. He has also sung several famous songs such as “Aaluma Doluma”, “Kaavaalaa”, and “Jimikki Ponnu”.

Anirudh Ravichander Family
Anirudh was born on 16 October 1990 to Ravi Raghavendra, an actor in Tamil films and television, and Lakshmi Raghavendra, a trained classical dancer. The music composer also has a sister Vaishnavi who is married to Abhinav.
Anirudh has other film connections as well as his great-grandfather Krishnaswami Subrahmanyam was a renowned director of the 1930s. Also, Latha, wife of famous Tamil actor Rajinikanth is Anirudh’s father’s sister.

In 2012 rumours started doing the rounds that Anirudh is dating Tamil actress Andrea Jeremiah. Back then, a video clip of the couple kissing each other had also gone viral. However, Anirudh and Andrea had a breakup later and the couple parted ways.
In 2021, rumors were abuzz that the music director was in a relationship with South Indian actress Keerthi Suresh. According to the media, the couple were supposed to get married by the end of the year. However, neither Anirudh nor Keerthi ever opened up about their relationship.

Anirudh did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School in K. K. Nagar, Chennai. Later, the music director joined Loyola College in Chennai and completed his graduation in commerce. He also did a course in sound engineering.

In 2017, a sex tape went viral on the internet and the person in the video resembled Anirudh. Apparently, the 3-minute long video was shot in a hotel. However, according to Anirudh’s fans, it was not him as his trademark goatee and tattoo were missing.
Later, Anirudh took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment. In his tweet, the music director urged the people who are behind the rumor to get a life and also an eye check-up.

During his childhood days, Anirudh spent most of his time with his electronic keyboard. At school, he participated in cultural competitions as a keyboard player and singer and was also a member of the band ‘Zinx’.
The turning point in Anirudh’s career was working in short films for his cousin Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The youngster worked in a series of 12 short films and it paved the way for his debut as a music director in movies. Thus, in 2012, Anirudh composed music for the film ‘3’, directed by Aishwarya, and the song “Why This Kolaveri Di” soon went viral. It hit a record 400 million views on YouTube thus catapulting the young music director to fame.
In 2013, Anirudh composed music for ‘Ethir Neechal’ and the film went on to become a hit. In the same year, he made his debut in Hindi with the Bejoy Nambiar-directed film ‘David’. Anirudh later became part of several hit movies such as Vellailla Pattadhari, Kaththi, Kakki Sattai, Maari, Vedalam, Beast, and Vikram.
As a singer, Anirudh has lent his voice to many popular songs such as “Aaluma Doluma“ from the film Vedalam, “Jimikki Ponnu” from Vaarisu, and “Kaavaalaayya” from Jailer.
In his career, Anirudh has been a recipient of Filmfare Awards thrice, nine SIIMA Awards, six Edison Awards, and five Vijay Awards.
