Anurag Kashyap, Sunny Leone, And Rahul Bhat’s Kennedy Receive A 7-Minute Standing Ovation At Cannes 2023!

Kennedy, the neo-noir thriller movie written and directed by Anurag Kashyap received a 7-minute standing ovation at the 2023 Cannes film festival. The film which has Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the lead roles was screened at the Midnight Screening section of the award show.
As soon as the screening got over, the entire crowd stood up and clapped and it turned out to be an emotional moment for both Rahul and Sunny.
An emotional Rahul, clad in a black suit, white shirt, and a matching black bowtie was seen saying namaste and also waving at the onlookers. He was standing alongside Anurag and Sunny at the venue. For Sunny also, it was an emotional moment. The actress told Anurag that he did it and added that she is not crying.
Apart from Kennedy, the other movies that got a standing ovation at Cannes include Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Johnny Depp’s Jeanne du Barry. The tickets for Kennedy’s premiere were sold off within minutes and Sunny had shared the news on her Instagram account.
While speaking about his movie Kennedy, Anurag later said that exhibiting one’s film to the world at Cannes is always special. According to him, it was a lifetime moment to play at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Anurag went on to say that Kennedy is a very special film for him and also extremely personal.
He added that the crew had put their heart and soul into making the film. Toward the end of the conversation, Anurag also mentioned that the standing ovation from the audience that lasted for 7 minutes made him full of gratitude. According to the director, he was very grateful and excited at the same time.
As per his earlier plans, Anurag Kashyap wanted actor Chiyaan Vikram to play the lead role in Kennedy. Vikram’s real name is Kennedy and the movie was named after him. Though Anurag reached out to Vikram for casting him, he never responded to his call.
Thus, he got in touch with Rahul and finally, he was the lucky one to do the lead role. According to Anurag, Rahul gave eight months of his life to Kennedy.
Recently, while speaking in an interview, Rahul said that if he ever meet actor Vikram, he would lie down at his feet. The actor also said that he is a great fan of actor Vikram and he was really lucky that the role in Kennedy came to him.
While speaking about the filming, Rahul said that they shot the movie for 30 days in 150 locations. When asked about the 7-minute standing ovation that the movie received, Rahul said that it seemed unreal to him.
The actor who is a Kashmiri Pandit went on to say that it’s been a long journey for a Kashmiri boy to travel from those traumatic times of migration till this point.
