Just like the name of the place suggests, Chembra Peak is in the hill station of Wayanad in the south Indian state of Kerala. It lies in the northern part of the territory of the state. The pleasing climate and the lush greenery attract a lot of nature lovers to visit this location more often.

You can also consider visiting this place if you are quite fond of indulging in adventure activities such as trekking, hiking, and so on. 2100 m is measured as the average elevation of this place from the sea level.

Considering the other mountain peaks in the district of Wayanad, Chembra is the highest one and so it becomes the ideal place for those adventure freaks who seeks the maximum risks and thrills. The picturesqueness of this location is also worth mentioning with serene green valleys and white blankets of mists. 

There are also a lot of waterfalls surrounding this particular peak in the district of Wayanad. So there are provisions for you to make your Chembra vacation much more happening and active. Another major attraction of this particular place is nothing but the diversity of flora and fauna found in the region.

The location of Chembra Peak Falls is in the northern district of Wayanad in the state of Kerala.

It is also part of the Western Ghats ranges found on the southwestern side of the territory of India. Meppadi is the nearest town to the peak of Chembra in the district of Wayanad. 

Climatic Conditions 

The winter months of the year are the season in which the most pleasurable climate is experienced in the region of Chembra Peak. During these months a moderately cool climate is experienced in the region.

The summer months of the year can be humid and hot in these areas. Moderate rainfall is received in the region during the monsoon months of the year. However, on account of the high altitude of the place, natural calamities such as land sliding are always expected here during the monsoon months.

Entry fee for Indians: 20 RS per person 

Entry fee for foreign nationals: 30 RS per person 

Timings: 7 AM – 5 PM 

Attractions At Chembra Peak Wayanad 

Trekking To The peak 

Chembra Peak trek is one of the most-loved tourist activities in the region. Most of the tourists including domestic and internationals are seen indulging in this trek once they visit the place. The cloudy sky and the heaven-like feeling are unique in the entire territory of Kerala.

Trekking To The peak 

While trekking you can also get to see and explore a lot of tea plantations which would help you understand the economy, lifestyle, and culture of the natives living in the region. The fresh air and the exotic views of the Wayanad landscape you get to see while trekking are also quite rare to find in the rest of the places.

If you are interested to trek to the peak, make sure you register in the base camp and have enough members in your gang for the registration. Even if you have travelled solo, you can team up with other people from the base camp location and get into the most-awaited trekking adventure.

Since the trekking timings are from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening, it is advised to reach the base camp before 2 in the afternoon if you wish to do the trek on that day itself.

The view you get after trekking to the peak point is quite priceless and worth the effort you put into ascending the hill. The main view after climbing the peak is a heart-shaped pond. Due to its peculiar romantic shape, it is known by the name “Hridyasarassu”.

The green meadow surrounding the pond would be the cosiest ever bed laid for you by mother nature. It is worth spending some time on the meadow and spending some quality time either by yourself or along with your dear and near ones.

If you are trekking on a day with a clear sky, you may be able to see some mountain views that are far away. Even if you are not travelling on such a day, you would never be disappointed since the embracing feel of cloudy chill weather is such a heavenly one.

Photography is one of the most common activities seen in the surroundings of Chembra Peak. The nature in the region is quite scenic so landscape photographers can make the most out of their visits. Portraits also have countless possibilities in the location of Chembra Peak.

The matchlessly beautiful backdrops can help you get a bunch of Instagrammable photos. Moreover, there are also people and photographers clicking pictures and videos of exotic species found in the region.

Chembra Peak Trek Route And Details 

4.5 km is the estimated distance to be covered while undertaking the Chembra Peak trek. From the base camp, you would first reach the watchtower which can be reached at a distance of 1 km.

If you travel further a distance of 2 km from there, you will reach the destination of the lake. There is again a distance of 1.5 km to finally reach the peak point. 

Things to remember while visiting Chembra Peak 

Take prevention against leeches handy since there are a lot of them on the trekking trail. Make sure you explore the tea plantations without fail.
