The word Mapusa Konkani ‘Map’ is supposed to mean ‘Map’ and ‘Sa’ means ‘Bharan’ and is devoted to as ‘Mapasa’ by the locals. Mapusa is a small town with different buildings in Ramshakal. Take a trip to Mapusa, which attained popularity owing to Friday”s prevalent market. The market was first labeled by a Dutch chronicler during 1580 AD as “Bazaar Grand”.

Its closeness between Candolim and Baga, two of North Goa”s most well-known seashells, and its nearby location makes it a tourist paradise dedicated to an enormous parking Calangute which means plenty of pay and parks and hassle-free noons.

On National Highway 17, Mapusa is situated atop the hill of Altinho in Bardez taluka. Mapusa is only nearly 12 km from Panaji and is expedient to travel.

Mapusa developed into a flourishing market center owing to the festival of Lord Kankeshwar Baba at the Bodeshwar Temple.

The flea market is also an outstanding place to practice haggling and bargaining. Individuals come here to get discounts on all types of fabrics and finished items of clothing.

The Church Of Our Lady Of Miracles

The Church of Our Lady of Miracles was originally constructed by the Portuguese in 1594. Supposed to have been constructed on the site of a Hindu temple. This church was enthusiastic to Saint Jerome and is still often named St Jerome’s Church. St. Jerome’s status was brought from Choras Seminary.

The property caught fire in 1961 and a large part of it was destroyed. After its renovation, the church was enthusiastic about Our Lady of Miracles and is locally better known as Milagres Church. This beautiful church is situated at the end of the market road around Mapusa. 

Anjuna Beach

Located on the west coast of Goa by the Arabian Sea, Anjuna Beach is one of the best beaches across Goa. The hippies were the first individuals to come here during the 1950s and since then, Anjuna Beach is a hotspot in Goa for local and international explorers.

Between the months of October and April is the best time to visit Mapusa as when the weather remains enjoyable. Visiting Goa throughout the summer and monsoon seasons should be evaded.
