Rana Daggubati is an Indian film actor, producer and entrepreneur. He predominantly works in Telugu films and also in Hindi and Tamil films. Rana entered the film industry by co-producing the Telugu movie ‘Bommalata’ in 2004. Later, he made his acting debut with the 2010 film ‘Leader’ for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South.

Subsequently, Rana acted in several hit films such as Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Rudramadevi, Ghazi, and Nene Raju Nene Mantri. The actor also owns several business establishments such as Spirit Media, Anthill Studio, and DCRAF.

Rana Daggubati Family

Rana was born on 14 December 1984 and hails from a film background. The actor’s grandfather D. Ramanaidu and father D. Suresh Babu are renowned producers in the Telugu film industry and his mother’s name is Lakshmi. Rana also has a brother Abhiram Daggubati who is an actor and producer and a sister Malavika who is married.

Earlier, Rana was dating Tamil actress Trisha. However, things did not work out, and the couple parted ways. Later, the actor was rumored to be in a relationship with actors such as Rakul Preet Singh, Sameera Reddy, and Bipasha Basu. However, there are no confirmed reports about those linkups.

In August 2023, Rana made a controversial statement that a big Hindi cinema heroine wasted actor Dulquer Salmaan’s time during the filming of a Hindi movie. According to Rana, the actress was discussing shopping with her husband over the phone. Soon the media was abuzz with rumors that Rana was referring to Sonam Kapoor, who was Dulquer’s costar in the 2019 film ‘The Zoya Factor’. 

However, soon after his statement stirred controversy, Rana tweeted that his words were misinterpreted. The actor also expressed his heartfelt apologies to Sonam and Dulquer.

A person with a keen interest in visual effects, Rana went on to found Spirit Media, his own VFX studio in 2005. The actor ran the firm for around 6 years and worked on 50 to 60 films. Later, in 2004, Rana co-produced the Telugu movie ‘Bommalata’ which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.

As an actor, Rana’s debut film was ‘Leader’, a Telugu movie directed by Sekhar Kammula. The film was released in 2010. The following year, he forayed into Hindi films with ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ and was cast opposite Bipasha Basu.

Rana got a major break in his career by portraying the character of ‘Bhallaladeva’ in the epic Telugu film ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’. He also appeared in its sequel ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’. Later, the actor became part of several hit films such as Rudramadevi, Ghazi, and Nene Raju Nene Mantri.

Rana’s business interest is spread across diverse industries. In 2018, the actor set up a studio-style agency which was a joint venture with Kwan Entertainment and Marketing Solutions. Rana is the key person behind Anthill Studio, a business accelerator program, and also a stakeholder in Amar Chitra Katha, the renowned comic book company.
