Sana Khan is a former Indian actress-turned-businesswoman. She used to work majorly in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu language films before quitting the industry in 2020. Sana made her acting debut with the 2005 film ‘Yehi Hai High Society’.

Later, she appeared in several television commercials and reality shows such as Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss. The former actress is also the founder of business ventures such as “Face Spa by Sana Khan” and “Haya By Sana Khan”.

Sana was born on 21 August 1988. The actress’s father is a Malayali Muslim who hailed from Kannur in Kerala, and her mother Saeeda, is from Mumbai.

Sana Khan Relationships

Sana was in a relationship with choreographer Melvin Louis. However, after dating him for over a year, the actress got to know that he had been cheating on her. Thus, Sana had a breakup with Melvin and the couple parted ways in February 2020.

On 21st November 2020, the actress got married to Mufti Anas Sayed, a businessman based in Surat, Gujarat. After her marriage, Sana changed her name to Sayied Sana Khan. On 5th July 2023, she delivered a baby boy, Saiyad Tariq Jamil.

In March 2007, Sana stirred controversy when she was featured in an advertisement for Amul Macho, a men’s underwear brand. In the commercial, the actress was seen as a wife who fantasized about her husband while washing his underwear, thus stimulating an orgasm. However, the commercial later became controversial and was banned by the Indian government citing sexual profanity as the reason.

Sana started her modeling career at a young age. In 2005, she landed her first acting assignment with ‘Yehi Hai High Society’, a low-budget Hindi film. It was followed by the actress featuring in television commercials and other advertisements. 

The turning point in Sana’s career was acting in ‘Silambattam’, her first Tamil film directed by S. Saravanan. She portrayed the role of Jaanu and was cast opposite Silambarasan in the film. Sana went on to win the 2009 ITFA Best New Actress Award in Singapore for her maiden Tamil film. It was followed by ‘Thambikku Indha Ooru’, her next Tamil film released in 2010.

In the same year, Sana forayed into the Telugu film industry with ‘Kalyanram Kathi’, a film directed by Mallikarjun. She was cast alongside Kalyan Ram in the film.

In 2011, Sana made her entry into the Kannada industry with the film ‘Kool…Sakkath Hot Maga’. It was followed by Aayiram Vilakku, a Tamil film, and Mr. Nookayya, a Telugu movie.

The actress also acted in a Malayalam film titled ‘Climax’ in 2013, a project based on the Hindi film ‘The Dirty Picture’. Sana played the role of Silk Smitha in the film. 

Later, Sana was seen in films such as Jai Ho, Wajah Tum Ho, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Tom, Dick and Harry 2. When it comes to television commercials, she has acted in more than 50 advertisements including Secret Temptation, a deodorant brand, Yatra.com, and the Xbox 360 video game console.

Sana also joined as a contestant on television reality shows such as Bigg Boss 6, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6, Box Cricket League 2, and Kitchen Champion 5. Of these, the actress emerged as 2nd Runner-up in Bigg Boss 6.

On 8 October 2020, Sana posted a message on her Instagram account stating that she was quitting the entertainment industry.

Sana is also an entrepreneur and has founded two business establishments, “Face Spa by Sana Khan” and “Haya By Sana Khan”. The actress is also the owner of “The Hayat Welfare Foundation” along with her husband, Anas Sayed.
