Siddharth Jonnalagadda, popularly known as Siddhu Jonnalagadda is an Indian actor, screenwriter, editor, and playback singer who works primarily in Telugu films. In 2011, he played a lead role in the Telugu movie ‘LBW: Life Before Wedding’, directed by newcomer Praveen Sattaru.

Later, Siddhu Jonnalagadda forayed into Tamil with the film ‘Vallinam’ in 2014. However, the actor shot to fame after playing the titular role in the 2022 film ‘DJ Tillu’. In addition, Siddhu co-wrote and appeared in movies including Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma, Krishna and His Leela, and Guntur Talkies.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda Family

Siddhu was born in 1992 to Saikumar Jonnalagadda and Sarada. The actor also has an elder brother by the name of Chaitanya Jonnalagadda.

Controversies

The homophobic dialogues in the film DJ Tillu, co-written by Siddhu irked ‘Queer Nilayam’, a LGBTQIA+ support group based in Hyderabad. In the movie, a character while being sent to jail filled with homosexuals is warned to be careful and another character mockingly used the word ‘gays’.

Subsequently, Queer Nilayam, on its Instagram page strongly criticized the makers of DJ Tillu by posting that they are ashamed to watch such a film and strongly condemned the act. The organization also raised a complaint with the Regional Officer of the Central Board of Film Certification against the makers of the film.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda Profession

Siddhu Jonnalagadda made his acting debut in 2009 by playing the role of a college student in the Telugu film ‘Josh’. It was followed by small roles in the movies ‘Orange’ and ‘Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu’.

In 2011, Siddhu appeared in a lead role in ‘Life Before Wedding’, a Telugu film directed by debutante Praveen Sattaru. He played the role of Rishi in the movie. Later, in 2014, Siddhu made his entry into Tamil with the Arivazhagan-directed film ‘Vallinam’. In the same year, he went on to act in ace director Ram Gopal Varma-directed film ‘Ice Cream 2’.

In 2016, Siddhu donned the dual roles of co-writer and lead actor in the film ‘Guntur Talkies’, directed by Praveen Sattaru. It was followed by the films ‘Krishna and His Leela’ and ‘Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma’ where Siddhu appeared both as a writer as well as that of a hero.

In 2018, Siddhu acted in ‘Gangstars’, a Telugu crime drama television series aired on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by B. V. Nandini Reddy, Siddhu portrayed the character of Ajay in the film.

Siddhu rose to fame after the release of the film ‘DJ Tillu’ in 2022. He played the titular character of Bala Gangadhar Tilak aka DJ Tillu and was cast opposite Neha Shetty. The film turned out to be a blockbuster and went on to collect Rs.30 crores at the global box office.

In 2016, Siddhu tried his hand at singing with the film Guntur Talkies. It was followed by the songs “Kaasu Paisa” and “Pelli Beatu” in the movie Naruda Donoruda. In 2022, he sang the song “Nuvvala” in the film DJ Tillu.

The upcoming film from Siddhu is ‘Tillu Square’, a sequel to ‘Dj Tillu’. Siddhu is cast opposite Anupama Parameswaran and the film is all set to be released on September 15th, 2023. The other projects lined up include ‘That Is Mahalakshmi’, a remake of the 2014 Hindi film ‘Queen’, and the remake of the hit Malayalam film ‘Thallumaala’.

After being part of the film ‘Guntur Talkies’, Siddhu took a sabbatical to think about what he needed to do next. According to the actor, though the movie Guntur Talkies made money, it didn’t pay him back in kind.

Once Siddhu was asked by a renowned female anchor in an interview whether he is a womanizer in real life. The actor asked her to define the term womanizer for which the interviewer said that it’s someone who flirts with women, makes them laugh, chills, and thrills them. Siddhu replied that he doesn’t know about thrills and chills, but if he likes a woman, he will approach her and talk to her politely.
