Controversies

In April 2023, a fake quote by Tushar was doing the rounds on social media. A match was held between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and CSK won the game.

As per the fake news, Tushar said that it was easy to take the wicket of Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians. It led to a furore on social media with MI fans stating that it was a disrespectful comment against Rohit.

However, Tushar was quick to respond. The cricketer wrote on his Instagram account that he highly regarded all the cricketing legends and would never make such a comment. Tushar also urged the fans to stay away from circulating fake news and to show respect to all players.

Tushar Deshpande Profession

When he was 4 years of age, Tushar heard the word ‘cricket’ for the first time, from his father Uday Deshpande. Those days, he used to see his father, a former cricketer going for practice and fitness sessions. Later, little Tushar realized that cricket was a game and his dad was going for cricket practice sessions. From those days, the sport of cricket was introduced to Tushar’s life.

During Tushar’s childhood days, Uday used to take his son every day to Subhash Maidan. At 8, Tushar played season cricket for the first time. Gradually, the kid started developing an interest in cricket. Later, when Tushar turned 11, his parents gave serious thought about what he can do further in cricket.

During that time, Tushar’s father came across a newspaper advertisement by Shivaji Park Gymkhana offering free training for children in the Under-11 and Under-12 categories.

They were grooming the trainees to play competitive cricket at the club level. At that point in time, Tushar made up his mind that he will choose cricket as his profession.

Eventually, Tushar went on to represent Mumbai in the Under-16 and Under-19 levels. In 2015, when he was about to turn 20, the cricketer played for the Mumbai senior team in a T20 match against Odisha.

A year later, in the 2016-17 season, Tushar got selected for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team. On the opening day of the first match against Tamil Nadu, the youngster delivered an incredible performance by taking 4 wickets. In the tournament, he went on to take a total of 21 wickets.

On 19 September 2018, Tushar made his debut for Mumbai at the Vijay Hazare trophy and in the quarter-finals, the youngster achieved his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket. Subsequently, Tushar got a call for the India A series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.

In the 2020 IPL auction, the cricketer was bought by Delhi Capitals for the base price. However, he could play only 5 matches in that season and took 3 wickets. Two years later, at the 2022 IPL auctions, Tushar was bought by Chennai Super Kings.

Tushar Deshpande Net worth

As per sources, Tushar’s net worth stands at $ 5,00,000.

Lesser Known Facts About Tushar Deshpande

  • Tushar’s mother was diagnosed with cancer at a very late stage. During that phase, his mother used to tell her son to focus on his game and that she will recover soon.
  • When Tushar was bought by Delhi Capitals in the 2020 IPL auctions, he called up his grandmother Alka Salvi and conveyed the good news. Alka later said in an interview that she was delighted to hear the news and added that if Tushar’s mom was alive she too would have been very happy.
  • Sanjay Joshi, Tushar’s neighbor says that since his childhood days, the young lad’s life has been full of cricket. He added that Tushar had patience in him and that his life was devoted to cricket.
  • During the first edition of IPL in 2008, Tushar used to be in the role of a ball boy. Back then, the teenager was part of the under-13 team and he still remembers those days when he was astonished to see legends such as Sachin Tendulkar and Shaun Pollock playing at IPL. According to Tushar, just outside the boundary line, a fridge filled with Gatorade cans was kept and he was more interested in having it rather than watching and learning the sport from the all-time greats.
  • Tushar got to know the news of her mother’s demise a day before his flight to Indore for playing at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 super league game. Though the cricketer thought of staying back at home for a few days, he later decided to travel to Indore after having a discussion with his father.
  • According to Tushar, his father’s contribution to him becoming a cricketer just cannot be explained in words. During those days, it was his father who used to take him to Shivaji Park Gymkhana. He ensured that the young Tushar is fit enough to bowl fast.
  • While describing the experience of playing an IPL match at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, Tushar said that he couldn’t hear anything. Apparently, it was very loud and exceptional.
