Urfi Javed: Facts To Know About The Bold Fashion Icon!

Uorfi Javed, formerly known by the name Urfi Javed, is an Indian television serial actress and social media influencer. In 2016, Uorfi made her debut by playing the character of Avni Pant in Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania, a series aired on Sony TV. Later, she rose to fame after becoming a contestant in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, Voot’s reality show.

In 2022, the actress announced on her official Instagram account that she is changing her name to Urfi following the advice of a numerologist. Uorfi has a huge fan following on social media platforms with a whopping 4.1 million followers on Instagram and 1 million followers on Facebook.

Family

Born on 15 October 1997, Urfi Javed hails from a conservative Muslim family in Lucknow. Her father’s name is Ifru Javed and her mother’s name is Zakiya Sultana. The actress also has three sisters, Urusa Javed, Asfi Javed, and Dolly Javed, and a brother Sameer Aslam.

In an interview, Urfi Javed once revealed that she didn’t have her family’s support. She also alleged her father tortured her physically and mentally and stated that it continued for two years. Urfi went on to say that her relatives even used to call her a porn star and they wanted to check her bank account as they were expecting her to have earned crores of money.

Affair

In 2017, Urfi Javed met actor Paras Kalnawat on the sets of ‘Meri Durga’ a Star Plus series. In the series, Urfi portrayed the character of Aarti Singhania whereas Paras played the role of Sanjay Prince. Though she and Paras were poles apart in their area of interest, the couple soon fell in love with each other. Paras was so obsessed with her that he even got her name inked on his ankle. However, after dating for a year, the couple break up in 2018.

Post their breakup, Urfi once said that she wanted to break up with Paras just one month after they got together. According to her, he was a kid and was very possessive. 

Later,  Paras and Urfi Javed were supposed to act together in ‘Anupamaa’, a television drama series. However, due to their relationship falling apart, Pras spoke to the makers of the series not to cast Uorfi in it. Later, while commenting on the incident, Uorfi said it was so kiddish of him.

Education

Urfi Javed did her schooling at City Montessori School, Lucknow. Later she joined Amity University, Lucknow, and completed her degree in mass communication from that institution.

Controversies

In December 2022, lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh lodged a written complaint against Urfi at Mumbai’s Andheri police station. The complaint was filed alleging the actress of indulging in illegal and obscene acts in public places and on social media platforms.

It stirred controversy in November 2022 when writer Chetan Bhagat remarked that Uorfi’s outfits were causing a distraction for boys. In response, the actress lambasted Chetan by terming him a pervert and pleaded with him to stop promoting rape culture.  During the #MeToo movement, Urfi Javed also released screenshots of Chetan’s WhatsApp conversations that were leaked. She went on to ask who the author was distracting when he was chatting with girls half of his age.

Tattoos

Urfi Javed has inked the tattoo of a feather about her waist. On her Instagram account, she once flaunted her tattoo in photographs where she is seen clad in a blue bikini.

Profession

From 2016 to 2017, Urfi Javed portrayed the role of Chhaya in Star Plus’s Chandra Nandini. Following that she appeared as Aarti in Meri Durga.

The actress’s major appearances in 2018 included playing the characters of Kamini Joshi in Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie aired on SAB TV, Bella Kapoor in Colors TV’s Bepannaah, Nandini in &TV’s Daayan and Piyali in Star Bharat’s Jiji Maa. 2020 saw Uorfi donning the role of Shivani Bhatia in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Tanisha Chakraborty in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. 

Apart from Hindi serials, Urfi’s other performances include participating in MTV Splitsvilla (Season 14) as a guest contestant and portraying the role of Meera in Puncch Beat, a web series.

Reportedly, Urfi’s net worth stands at Rs. 170 Crore. Apparently, the actress charges Rs.30,000 for acting in an episode of a serial and she owns property worth more than Rs.150 crore.

• Urfi Javed left her home when she was just 17 years of age. She was totally shattered and in order to make a living, she started working at a call center. 

• When Urfi Javed was shooting for the serial Aye Mere Humsafar, she surprised the crew by baking a home-baked Mawa Cake. According to her, she loves home-cooked food over eating out and also loves cooking for others.

• In an interview, the actress revealed that her father used to beat her and her mother a lot. Urfi Javed went on to say that she even attempted suicide once.

• Once she revealed that every girl had faced the casting couch at some point. However, Urfi went on to say that men in the industry are mighty and she is lucky that she hasn’t faced a lot of casting couches in her professional life.

• At an event held in March 2023, Urfi Javed was seen posing along with Sunny Leone. 

• Urfi doesn’t take trolls and criticism seriously. Though she is fine with constructive criticism, the actress is of the opinion that trolls do not deserve any importance.

• Urfi was featured twice in the ‘Most Searched Asian on Google 2022’ list. First, she was ranked at the 57th position and later improved her ranking to 43 surpassing leading Bollywood actresses such as Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Disha Patani.
