RRR And The Last Film Show Shortlisted For The 95th Academy Awards
The year is ending and how amazingly! All around the world, art is being celebrated and movies, celebrities, and other famous personalities are getting acclamation for their work. It is that time of 2022 when the 95th Academy Award nominations are out and we couldn’t be more excited!
Academy Awards, commonly called “The Oscars” would be telecasted on 12th March 2023 and have shortlisted two Indian movies and the nation is proud of the entire team.
Movies That Have Been Shortlisted
RRR (A South Indian movie) that stars Ram Charan Teja and Junior NTR is a period drama. RRR or Rise Roar and Revolt (Roudhram Ranam Rudhiram) has been shortlisted for the best original music. The song is none other than Naatu Naatu (Naacho Naacho in Hindi). This has been one of the most popular songs in 2022 and deserves the win.
Along with RRR’s Naito Naato, there are 14 more songs that have been nominated. The list includes Till You’re Home (A Man Called Otto), Nothing is Lost (Avatar: The Way of Water), Hold My Hand (Top Gun: Maverick), Lift Me Up (Wakanda Forever), and New Body Rhumba (White Noise) among others. The movie is not only running for Oscars but Golden Globe Awards as well! RRR has been shortlisted for two categories – Best Original Song and Best Picture (Non-English).
Another Indian movie that has been shortlisted for the 95th Academy Awards is The Last Film Show. It is running for the category of Best International Feature Film. The movie is about a 9-year-old kid who feels magic in his heart and moves through Earth and heaven looking for his dream.
This heartfelt movie is racing with 14 international movies shortlisted from 92 countries. The list includes Joyland (Pakistan), Decision to Leave (South Korea), Close (Belgium), Bardo (Mexico), All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), and many more.
Talking about the nomination decision, Oscar took to its official website and announced that they invited academy members from every branch to participate in the initial round of voting. To be eligible for voting, these members should meet the minimum viewing requirement. They must view all 15 shortlisted movies for voting.
The Academy Awards panel also took to Twitter and shared the news that the nominations for 10 categories have been shortlisted. It asked the audience about which movies they are going to watch over the weekend. These 10 categories include live-action shorts, visual effects, documentaries, animated shorts, documentary short subjects, original song, original scores, and international features.
Throughout the categories, the top contenders for Oscars are Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro, Avatar, and All Quiet on the Western Front.
The voting will begin in January and will run from the 12th to the 17th and the final decision would be announced on the 24th of January. It is yet to see who takes the golden beauty home and celebrates the win of 2022! Audiences can see the live telecast from their homes as always.
