Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Film “Lal Salaam” Stars Veteran Indian Cricketer Kapil Dev

A reason to cheer for all his fans, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth announced that former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev will be sharing the screenspace along with him in the latest movie ‘Lal Salaam’ directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

It was through his latest tweet that Rajinikanth revealed the news of Kapil Dev, the captain of the 1983 world cup winning Indian team making an appearance in his upcoming film.

In his tweet, the actor mentioned that it was his honor and privilege to work with the legendary cricketer. He also mentioned that Kapil is the most respected and wonderful human being who made the nation proud by winning the cricket world cup for the first time. Rajini also shared a photograph on his Twitter handle where he is seen standing along with the cricketer.

In the picture, the Tamil actor is clad in a white achkan and matching brown formal shoes.  On the other hand, Kapil was dressed in casual wear with a white t-shirt and he paired it with grey track pants. Both of them were seen wearing black shades in the photograph.

With Lal Salaam, Aishwarya is making her comeback as a director after a long gap of 8 years. The last movie directed by the superstar’s daughter was Vai Raja Vai. Apparently, ‘Lal Salaam’ is a film based on cricket and communism.

Reportedly, Rajinikanth will be donning the role of Moideen bhai in the film which has Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth playing the lead roles. A week back Aishwarya had shared the first look poster of the movie on her Instagram handle. The music director of the movie is music maestro AR Rahman.   

On his Instagram story, Kapil also shared a photograph where he is seen posing along with Rajini. Going by the background, the picture was shot inside a vanity van. In the photo, Kapil is seen wearing a dark blue t-shirt and matching dark blue track pants with a white stripe.

Rajini also preferred to keep it casual with a white and grey t-shirt and black pants. Kapil’s Instagram story had the caption “ An honor and privilege to be with the great man!”.

Later Aishwarya shared the cricketer’s Instagram story on her Instagram handle. She wrote “Blessed to be directorial you both” and tagged Kapil. Earlier in the day, Aishwarya had shared some photographs presumably from the sets of ‘Lal Salaam’.

In one of the photos, she is seen speaking to her father whereas in the other she is conversing with Kapil. In another picture, Aishwarya, clad in a white t-shirt holding a mike in hand is seen posing along with the cricketer. 

Last week Rajini traveled to Mumbai to commence the filming of the movie ‘Lal Salaam’. Though he returned to Chennai after shooting an action sequence for a few days, he was again spotted at the Mumbai airport on the morning of 18th May. Apparently, he has resumed shooting for the movie.
