Adivi Sesh Sunny Chandra is an Indian actor, director, and screenplay writer who majorly works in Telugu movies.
In 2010 Adivi made his debut in the film industry by donning the dual roles of both director and lead actor in the movie ‘Karma’. Later, he was noticed for his antagonistic roles in films such as Panjaa, Balupu, and Baahubali: The Beginning.
The major achievements in Adivi’s career include winning the IIFA Award, Telugu for Best Screenplay, and the Nandi Award for Best Screenplay Writer for the movie ‘Kshanam’.
On social media platforms, the actor is quite popular with a massive 1.1 million followers on Instagram and 6,98,600 followers on Twitter.

Adivi Sesh Family
Adivi was born on 17 December 1985 to Sunshi Chandra Adivi, a doctor, and Bhavani Adivi. The actor was brought up in a film-loving family in Berkeley, California.
Adivi also has a younger sister by the name of Shirley who pursued her studies in medicine in Ireland. Adivi’s sister is married to Davin.
Relationship
Rumors are abuzz that Adivi is in a relationship with Supriya Yarlagadda, the sister of actor Sumanth and the daughter of leading producers Surender and Sathyavathi Akkineni.
She is also a relative of actors Akhil Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya, and Rana Daggubati. Supriya was introduced to Adivi by their mutual friend Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the renowned Tamil and Telugu actress.
Supriya is a divorcee and she was earlier married to Charan Reddy. As per rumors, she has been seeing Adivi Sesh since 2019.
In 2022 December, a photograph shared by Sushanth Akkineni had gone viral on social media. It was the picture of a Christmas party with actors such as Sumanth, Sushanth, and Akhil Akkineni who featured in the movie ‘Major’.
In the photograph, Adivi was seen standing next to Supriya and both were twinning in red which reignited the rumors of their relationship.

Adivi did his schooling at Berkeley High School. Later, he enrolled at San Francisco State University for pursuing his undergraduate studies. The actor holds a degree of 4 years in film direction.
Controversies
In December 2022, Adivi lashed out at the nepotism prevailing in the Telugu film industry. It was in an interview that the actor revealed that outsiders don’t get many opportunities to audition for lead roles.
He went on to say that there is no such culture of auditions in the Telugu industry as most of the significant roles go to people who belong to film families.
According to the actor, there is a family in the Telugu industry that has nearly ten actors, and thus outsiders are hardly left with any good opportunities. Adivi also said that it was due to the lack of opportunities that he started co-writing films.
Adivi Sesh Profession
Adivi made his entry into films by playing a small guest role in the 2002 Telugu movie ‘Sontham’, directed by Srinu Vaitla. Later, in 2010, he made his major debut by appearing in the roles of actor, director, and writer in the movie ‘Karma’.
In the film, he was cast opposite Jade Taylor, an American actress. The story of Karma was based on a near-fatal car accident that Adivi met when he was in San Francisco.
The film holds the distinction of being the first Telugu movie that was completely shot in the United States. Karma also has an all-American technical crew in it.
In 2011, Adivi received critical acclaim for portraying the villainous character of Munna in ‘Panjaa’, a film directed by Vishnuvardhan. Another important character played by the actor was Bhadrudu in S. S. Rajamouli’s epic drama Baahubali: The Beginning in 2015.
In 2016 ‘Kshanam’ was released and that movie was also based on a real incident from Adivi’s life. Made with a budget of just Rs.3 crores, the film went on to collect a whopping Rs.10 crore at the box office.
In 2018, Adivi played a major role in Goodachari, a film directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and it turned out to be a blockbuster. Adivi has already made the announcement that he has begun scripting Goodachari 2, a sequel to the movie Goodachari.
In ‘Major’, a biopic made on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Adivi played the lead role and also wrote its story and screenplay. The film was released on June 3, 2022, and became a commercial hit.
Adivi was featured as a lead in the crime thriller movie ‘HIT: The Second Case’ directed by Sailesh Kolanu. The film turned out to be a box office hit and also received wide critical acclaim.

Lesser Known Facts About Adivi Sesh
- When the lockdown was imposed due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Adivi stayed back at home with his father. Though the actor doesn’t know cooking, his father is an excellent chef and prepared all the meals for them.
- After acting in the movie ‘Major’, Adivi realized how difficult an army job is. At the shooting location, the temperature was almost minus 8 degrees and everyone in the sets had to wear four to five jackets, one over the other.
- Advi once explained the craziest fan experience that he went through. Once he had been to an event and came across two twin girls who were in their twenties. Those girls were accompanied by their parents, and in front of them, both of them proposed to Adivi. While narrating the incident, the actor said that “I was like uh…”.
- When asked about his favorite food, Advi said that his a vegetarian. The actor also pleaded to save animals.
- The actor once opened up about his current relationship status and mentioned that it is “complicated”. He also added that it’s been like that for years.
