Enthusiastic to Lord Ranganatha, this temple is located atop the uppermost peak of the BR Hills. This temple is the only one in the country where this divinity is described in a standing position. The Annual Car festival of the divinity held throughout ‘Vaishakha’ during the month of April, is an event, the region is better known for and fascinates thousands of pilgrims from all over.

The Ratha festival is renowned at Biligiriranga Hills. There is also a tradition where the local tribes present a great pair of slippers gauging 1-foot (0.30 m) and 9 inches, made up of skin, to the Ranganathaswamy once in 2 years.

BRT Wildlife Sanctuary

How to Reach?

By Flight: BR Hills does not have an airport of its own and the closest airport is the Mysore Domestic Airport, situated at a distance of nearly 97 km from the hills. Taxi services are accessible from outside the airport. However, the main international airport is the Bangalore International Airport which is the closest to the hills, situated at a distance of nearly 210 km.

By Train: There is no railway station of its own. The closest railway station is the Chamarajanagar Station; situated at a distance of nearly 40 km. Taxis and bus services are accessible from outside the railway station. The closest major railway station is however the Mysore Junction, situated at a distance of nearly 66 km from BR Hills.

By Bus: State-run buses by KSRTC, as well as those owned by private works, are also accessible that link the place to foremost cities such as Bangalore and also to other places such as Chamarajnagar, Kanakapura, Kollegal, and different other close by places.

By Road: There are also well-maintained roads that make it easier to arrive at BR Hills. The Bangalore-Mysore highway assists to link the foremost cities to Maddur, from where Malavalli can arrive, which also leads to Kollegal town.
