Nanded: A Complete Travel Guide For You!

Nanded, an ancient and historic city, is the second largest city in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. Its name is supposed to have been invented from the name Nandi, a vehicle of awareness of Lord Shiva. It is supposed that Lord Shiva functioned penance on the banks of River Godavari that flows across this region.

The Gurudwara in Nanded is unquestionably the biggest lure and draws different Sikhs from all across the world. The Kaleshwar temple, enthusiastic to Lord Shiva, is another prevalent tourist sight in Nanded. The ancient forts of Kandhar, Dharur, and Kunthaligiri are a giant draw as well. Location 

Nanded, also implied Nander, city, eastern Maharashtra state, western India. Its deceits in a highland region on the banks of the Godavari River. The city’s name is the resultant of Nanda tat (“Nanda border”), a term that denotes the boundary of the Magadha kingdom throughout the 7th century BCE.

Climatic Conditions 

The climate condition here is tropical. During winter, there is much less rainfall in Nanded-Waghala than during summer. In Nanded-Waghala, the average annual temperature is 27.2 °C. The rainfall here averages 983 mm.

Hazur Sahib Gurudwara

The Hazur Sahib Gurudwara stances over the site where the 10th and last Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh had been incinerated. The Angitha Sahib, the inward room of the Gurudwara, marks the perfect site. Before his death in 1708, Guru Gobind Singh detained his court and congregation here.

Constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab, from 1832 to 1837, the Gurudwara has been measured as the second holiest location for Sikhs, after the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) around Amritsar.

Nanded Fort is a wonderful fort enclosed by green vegetation on all sides and bordered by the River Godavari on three. It is situated just 4 km from the Nanded Railway station and is better known for its spectacular beauty.

Aundha Nagnath Temple in Hingoli

The history of Aundha Nagnath Temple dates back to the duration of the Pandavas. Yudhistra, the eldest among the Pandavas, first constructed this majestic temple throughout his exile. It is also supposed that Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb strained to raze down the Aundha Nagnath temple. But it is said that a swarm of bees confronted his men and Aurangzeb gave up and left the temple. It is a prevalent belief that the Nagesh Linga or the Jyotirlinga is the Adhya or the first Jyotirlinga on Earth. Supporters believe that by praying at this temple, one can prevent themselves from all forms of poisons.

Kandhar Fort is located in the heart of Nanded city and contributes enormously to the city’s tourism. The roofs of the fort are shaped by the Ahmednagar architectural style.

Best Time To Visit

Nanded experiences sweltering summers, cold winters, and tremendously heavy monsoons. The winter period is the best time to visit this historic city. Winter begins in November and endures until February. Travelers can contentedly celebrate sightseeing and several other activities. However, they are directed to carry suitable winter wear.

The supreme daily temperatures throughout summer reach 43 degrees Celsius throughout summers. Summer begins in April and goes on till the end of May. The sweltering heat makes this an uncomfortable duration for a visit. The monsoon starts in July and goes on until the end of September. How to Reach? 

BY AIR: The closest domestic airport to Nanded is Aurangabad Airport and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport which is in Hyderabad is the closest international airport to Nanded. After arriving at the airports the visitors can avail of different trains which would help them to arrive in Nanded.

BY RAIL: Nanded has its own railway station called the Hazur Sahib Railway Station. There are adequate of trains available from several imperative cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Mumbai which link to Nanded.

BY ROAD: 

Traveling to Nanded by bus is also an inordinate choice for visitors as the city maintains a very even bus network. It is linked to different places in Maharashtra and also to other foremost states by bus route. Both private as well as government buses function in the city and there are also a few private tour organizers who carry bus transport amenities to the tourists.

Food and Accommodation 

There are different hotels to stay in, in Nanded, nearby the airport, which has a bar, restaurant, and Internet Services. Besides the hotels, there is adequate of comfortable accommodation carried by the Hazur Sahib Gurudwara and other gurudwaras around Nanded. Their anew built NRI Yatri Niwas carries AC and non-AC rooms. 

Apart from the beautiful restaurants at the hotels, Nanded doesn’t have several big restaurants. Gokul and Om’s restaurants serve upright vegetarian food.

Shopping in Nanded

Nanded is prevalent for its handicraft items which have always acknowledged a positive response from both the locals and the visitors of the city. Though this city is measured as a holy location, there are some shopping centers that cater to the needs of its individuals. The city also has some fashionable shopping malls that have mushroomed in recent times due to the infrastructural development witnessed here.
