Siruvani Waterfalls, Coimbatore: A Complete Travel Plan 2023

Siruvani Waterfalls and the dam titled after them have been situated 36 km (22 mi) west of Coimbatore in the Western Ghats. Also situated nearly 535 Km from Chennai and 50 Km distance from Palakkad. It is also better known as Kovai Courtallam. It is one of the prevalent Waterfalls in Coimbatore
Siruvani was constructed for Tamil Nadu by the Kerala government with funds collected by the Tamil Nadu government to encounter the drinking water provisions of Coimbatore. The gateways on either side of the road around the dam are classically in Kerala and Tamil Nadu architectural styles.
Additionally, Siruvani Waterfalls is home to certain Tribals such as the Mudugars and Irulars. Water from the Siruvani River is popular for its taste and its mineral properties. From the gateway to the beautiful waterfalls, Private vehicles are not allowed beyond this point; The Forest department has organized the vehicles for the conveyance to the point where the trek is to be begun. No supplementary charges for this service bus.
A nearly 1 km of trek-walk through the forest is demanded to arrive at the meticulous spot for bathing. The upper part of the falls is very unsafe with steep rocks and the visitors are usually celebrating the beauty and bathing at the bottom of the falls only.
Location
The Siruvani Dam is a straight stonework gravity dam, constructed across the Siruvani river, a tributary of the Bhavani River at Mannarkkad Taluk around Palakkad District.
Siruvani Dam, constructed in 1984 is used for supplying drinking water to the city of Coimbatore around Tamil Nadu.
Climatic Conditions
The climate of Coimbatore city is modest and pleasant during the year. Summers are hot with the extreme temperature reaching 390C and the least temperature being 210C.
Winters are mild with the maximum temperature hovering at nearly 300C and the minimum temperature of around 150C. A wholesome climate makes the tourists celebrate every moment of their visit to the city.

There are majorly 3 dissimilar spots to try in this beautiful waterfall. The initial one is at the ground level, which is a trivial pond shaped by the water running down these falls. The second beautiful spot is a bit higher, which carries a place to stand under the gushing cold water.
Additionally, the third spot is a more dangerous one, which is a small deep hole between the rocks nearby to the pond. This spot should only be tried by adults owing to its depth of this spot. You can also try local food items sold by the vendors at the boarding point, which involves raw mangoes with peanuts, spices, corn, and many others.

The area surrounding these waterfalls witnesses an acute water shortage during the early summer months, owing to which the water level from this waterfall diminishes. Hence, the best time to visit these waterfalls is the months from July to September, throughout which this area obtains a good amount of rainfall, and significantly augments the water level of these waterfalls.
How To Reach?
These waterfalls are situated at a distance of more than 30 km from the Coimbatore city area. To arrive at Coimbatore city, the closest railway station is Coimbatore Junction Railway Station situated at a distance of 33.8 km from these waterfalls. The closest airport is Coimbatore International Airport situated at a distance of 46.3 km from these waterfalls.
To refuge this remoteness from Coimbatore city to Siruvani waterfalls, one may take a government bus or rent a cab or taxi. The inexpensive option would be traveling by bus, and the buses that run this way are 14E, 59, and 59C.

Rallia Dam
Another equal fasciation attraction is Rallia Dam, where you can spot a broad variety of animals such as Malabar Squirrels and Bisons around the forest. From Catherine Falls, it is a short drive.

The Srine Of Idumba
It is situated nearly in the middle of the path of steps. The picture of the deity is carved on a huge round rock in the posture of carrying a Kaavadi.

Pambatti Siddhar Cave
This is situated on the slopes towards the east and can be approached by a narrow path, safeguarded by a stone hedge or parapet.

Pambatti Siddhar utilized this cave as his abode for meditation on Lord Muruga and gained salvation here. One can notice a natural picture of a snake on the rock.
