Jagdalpur is a naturally beautiful city in the Bastar district of Chhatisgarh and has a rich culture along with a history of kingdoms from previous durations invading the region. Jagdalpur is one of the most prevalent tourist destinations around the state after Bhilai and Raipur as there are different monuments in Jagdalpur that have been built by kings and they are definitely worth visiting.

Chitrakote Falls

In the Bastar district of Chhatisgarh, the Chitrakot waterfall is a naturally beautiful waterfall located on the river Indravati. It is adjacent to Jagdalpur, it has also attained fame as a foremost picnic sight.

It is of similar shape to horse feet; this fall is also named Niagara of India. The visitors like it very much as it is very much beautiful. The attractiveness of the falling water from the waterfall can be seen with the tourist light.

On the banks of river Kanger, the Kotumsar caves are located which is km away from Jagdalpur. This is an underground cave formed naturally millions of years ago and was discovered only in 1993 in Kanger Valley National Park. At the end of the cave, there is a Shiva Linga, which is why visitors flock to this astonishing cave for religious causes.

The Kutumsar cave is subject to regular flooding throughout the monsoon season, which commonly starts during the middle of June and endures until the middle of October. The location is closed to visitors throughout this duration.

It is supposed that a tooth of Sati had dropped here and Danteshwari Shakti Peetha was introduced. Dalpat Sagar Lake is situated within Jagdalpur. It is one of the best and biggest artificial lakes with a charming musical fountain around Chhattisgarh. It was built by Raja Dalpat Deo Kakatiya more than 400 years ago to yield rainwater. Approximately, it is spread over 350 hectares of land and therefore is the largest artificial lake in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Boating amenities are also accessible here, and visitors can celebrate the scenery whilst paddling away in small boats. A small lighthouse and a delightful musical fountain stationed on the island add to the attractiveness of the lake.

  • By Air: The closest domestic airport from Jagdalpur is Swami Vivekananda Airport, situated in Raipur, nearly 4 hr drive from the city. It is very well linked to the foremost cities of the country such as Mumbai, Mangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and many more. One can take flights from metro cities. 
  • By Rail: Jagdalpur has its own railway station called Jagdalpur Railway Station. It is well associated with the cities such as Bilaspur, Raipur, Puri, Delhi, and many more. 
  • By Road: There are different routes to arrive at Jagdalpur. Jagdalpur has restricted local public transport, and the bus system within the city is not very reliable. For visitors, it is more expedient and hassle-free to take an auto-rickshaw to commute across the town. To arrive at destinations that are situated outside the city, you can rent taxis for the day from your hotel, or one of the different taxi rental services across the city.
