Joranda Waterfall

By visiting this particular waterfall, in the district of Mayurbhanj, you can also cover your visit to the Simlipal National Park since the falls are situated inside the park. Considering the height of the fall, it assumes the 19th position among the highest waterfalls in the territory of India. The cascading measurement of the falls is recorded as 150 m or 490 feet.

A larger tourist crowd is always seen in the surroundings of the falls indulging in the scenic beauty of nature in the area. If you would like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, visiting these falls would be a great choice. 

Barehipani Waterfall

This is also another waterfall you can visit while traveling to the district of Mayurbhanj in the state of Odisha. This particular waterfall is also quite near the fall of Joranda. If you plan well, you can easily cover both locations in a single day. This fall is also situated in the Simlipal National Park just like the Joranda Falls.

This is a village visit possible for you while traveling to the district of Mayurbhanj. Haripur is the newly evolved name of the village. During its former days, the village was known by the name Hariharpur. It was in the year 1400CE that the village was founded by a king known as Maharaja Harihar Bhanj.

He belonged to the famous dynasty of Bhanj from where the district got its name from. During the early years, Haripur was the capital city of the dynasty of Bhanj. The aesthetic brick temple found in this village is one of the most important tourist attractions here. 

Bhimkund Waterfall

Another waterfall destination is found in the district of Mayurbhanj. Just like the other waterfalls found in the location of the district, the surroundings of this particular waterfall are also crowded with tourists around the year. Keonjhar is the exact location of the fall in the district.

The proximity to the river of Baitarani also accentuates the scenic beauty of the waterfall. The gorge of the waterfall’s gigantic vertical shape is quite attractive and exciting to visitors.

Makar Sankranti is one of the most important festivals celebrated near the waterfall. Locals gather here in crowds during that particular time of the year. 

Kala Dam

This is a water reservoir perfect for your city tourism adventures in the district of Mayurbhanj. Kala Dam is also known by the name Kalo Dam. From the city center of Kaptipada, you may need to travel a distance of around 8km in order to reach the destination of Kala Dam.

Then almost after a decade, the construction got completed and the dam got inaugurated in the year 1982. Since then it became a favorite tourist destination in the region. 

Chaulabhaja Waterfall

Again another waterfall you would love to visit is the territory of the district of Mayurbhanj. Unlike the other waterfalls mentioned above, this is not a crowded waterfall. This is quite an off-beat destination you can explore while traveling to the district.

On account of the lesser crowd experienced in the region, solo travelers would fall in love with the vibes of this place. This particular waterfall is located in a place called Holobo in the district of Mayurbhanj.

Chaulabhaja waterfall has got a cascading length of around 1000 feet quite enough to attract our awe. The cascading of water from this fall is often said to have a resemblance with the falling of rice grains. 

Devkund Ambika Temple & Waterfall

A waterfall location in Mayurbhanj, but this time accompanied by a Hindu pilgrim destination too. From the city center of Mayurbhanj, you are required to travel a distance of 61km to the destination of Devkund and the waterfall.

Maa Ambika is the main deity worshipped in the shrine of this particular temple. If you have already planned a visit to the Simlipal National Park, you can easily access the temple and waterfall since they are quite near to it. The waterfall found in the location is also believed to have certain spiritual connections. 

Jagannath Temple, Baripada

Another Hindu pilgrim destination you can consider visiting while traveling to the Mayurbhanj region is the state of Odisha. The exact location of the temple comes in the Huduco colony on the Baripada side.

You may plan your visit anytime during the day, but make sure you don’t exceed 9:30 in the evening which is the closing time of the shrine. This particular temple is also known by the name Haribaldev Temple. The construction year of the temple is believed to be 1575 AD.

According to the records available, it was Shri Baidyanath Bhanj who took the efforts and initiative to build the temple in the location. The laterite stones using which the temple is built have also attracted a lot of historians and aestheticians to the location. 

Kichakeswari Temple

Kichakeswari Temple is one of the most prominent religious destinations you can visit on your trip to Mayurbhanj. This particular temple is devoted to the fierce form of the Hindu Goddess, Kali. Chamunda and Kiching are the regional variants of the popular name, ‘Kali’.

Kalinga Architecture can be seen as evident in the construction of the temple. It was during the period 920-926 AD that the temple completed its construction in the location. 

Sulaipat (Suleipat) Dam

Another dam destination you can add to your Mayurbhanj itinerary. You won’t be troubled to find the destination of this particular water reservoir in the city since it is also quite near to the Simlipal National Parl which is the center of many tourist destinations in the region.

If you are traveling from the city center of Baripada, you may need to travel a distance of around 82 km in order to reach the destination of the dam.

The dam is quite a scenic location since the lush green mountain ranges and the dense forest add more charm to its surroundings. 

Brahman Kund Waterfall

Yet another waterfall you can explore while covering the major tourist destinations in Mayurbhanj. Bangriposi is the exact location of this particular waterfall in the city. Girisrungha Hill is the point of origin of the waterfall of Brahman Kund.

Girisrungha Hill also belongs to the Simlipal Forest range discussed multiple times above. From the district headquarters of Baripada, there is a distance of around 65 km in order to reach this waterfall.
